He's never been an exceptional player and this deal (even the mention of it) is an embarrassment.

Why JD locked Dyess in for the rest of the season doesn't make sense. Dyess was not going anywhere even as an FA and this just limited his trade options in obtaining a semi-starter.

This is a very jittery ball club and Sheed is creating all types of problems.

I agree. If I was Joe, I would still leave Dice out there for the right price. Maxiell brings a lot more defensively, and doesn't need to have his shot going to be effective. Plus he provides a lot more energy than Antonio. Dice has just been too inconsistent this year, and his knack for untimely fouls is getting on my nerves. Not to say I'd want to just dump him, but I think it would help the team if we traded him for a legit backup PG. Max takes over the minutes and we don't really lose anything there, but we have tons to gain behind Chauncey.

This should be Plan B/C on JD's organizational chart. When he starts thinking like this then he begins to earn his money. It has been a long year for JD.

Personally, I think he is a little too close to his players and rationalizes this by playing off the "chemistry" card.

Then again, there are those Coe urban myths...which can transform perception into reallity...happens all-the-time.

Re: Back up Guard

If we got Ridnour that would be a fricken miracle. Also give us some leverage next summer with CB.

Re: Back up Guard

This is a spinning top that never stops! Are we in that bad of shape that we need a never ending thread about someone who wont play more than 2 minutes a game? BECAUUUSEE ....there is no way he will break into Flip's "play-billups-til-he-drops-and-play-lindsay-til-his-ankle-falls-off" mentality. A backup point will have to be just good to be traded for and just BAD enough to accept playing garbage time. HEre's Chauncey and Lindsays AVERAGE game breakdown:

1ST QTR....BILLUPS 10 MIN..enter Hunter 2 MIN
2ND QTR....Hunter 4 MIN..enter BILLUPS 6 MIN
HALF.....fLIP KISSES cb'S DONKEY for 15 min
3RD QTR....BILLUPS 11 MIN...enter Hunter 1 MIN
4TH QTR....Hunter 4 MIN..enter BILLUPS 8 MIN

AVG TIME: BILLUPS 35 MIN
HUNTER 13 MIN

this doesnt include timeouts, commercials, halftime and quartr breaks, which breakdowns to about 40-45 minutes alone!(Remember a basketball game with NO stops is only 48 minutes). 35 MPG is more than enough for a $3-6,000,000 player to go to work. Forget this point guard jazz. We need a big man with some butt to win the east and give a good show in the finals. Anybody seen Danny Fortson?

Re: Back up Guard

Got to say, I've now officially given up on Hunter. No way he should be playing more than five minutes a night. Yes, I know pretty much everyone else has been saying that, but just call me sentimental. Over it though.

If there isn't anyone to trade for, even though it hurts to say it, bring back Flip (or play Delfino some at the 1).

I think he would be an EXCELLENT backup for the Pistons, but I think he would be pretty expensive... to the tune of Nazr+ first round picks. I don't think you will pick the Sonics pockets on Luke. He's a fan favorite and very talented.

Watson has been great. He seemed very one dimensional (hustle, ala Dupree) early in the season, but he has really stepped up since he has been starting. His big complaint with Seattle was being a backup. I don't think he would be happy in Detroit. So... in summary, forget Watson, and if you still dream of a Sonic, dream of Luke.
Nice assesment... I agree that we blew our chance to land Watson... that ship has sailed.... Luke may indeed be obtainable... but I'm not sure his defense warants that kind of money... he would certainly have an impact on our struggling offense though.

I don't think Sheed has much value in a trade at this time...
This years resume...
I outscore my opponent one out of 10 games... my perimiter defense is seriously lacking.... I post up now and then (more then)... I'm moody and tune out the coach.... My outside shot has gone south for most of the year....every ref has me on their %%%% list and I'll soon be racking up missed games due to too many T's.
Oh but I do have fun in the club house when I'm not oversleeping.
Anyone interested?
