delfino is my boy but his english sucks. i wonder if the pistons are helping him out with it.

As long as he understands "Carlos" + "get in there" + "bench" + "ball don't lie," he'll be fine.

Carlos is hard to understand because of his thick accent but he's a charmer. He better ichsnay it on the talk about making side bets with Manu and Olberto when they play each other. I think it's just trash talk but god forbid David Stern got wind of that since he would misconstrue what Carlos meant. Remember Carlos is speaking English as a third language. He's fluent in Spanish and Italian so I give him credit for doing as well as he does.

i sat in my car a few extra minutes to listen to this interview on Talk Soup.

this was the first time i've ever heard Delfino's voice. for some reason i thought his english would be better. i would think that Stony would do a better job asking questions, when he knows the person opposite him lacks a firm grasp on the the English language. that attempt at humor with Delfino and Ginobili betting went sailing over Delfino's head.

nice to hear Delfino doing an interview, though. i'm not surprised it comes at a time when he's been getting consistent PT and the trust of his head coach. i think Delfino's in a happy place right now.

Stoney is the worst interviewer considering how many great sports personalities he gets to talk to. His style never changes and it relies on dated belligerence.

I think it is a little condescending for people to speak broken english to someone who cannot speak english well, but speaking a little slower and keeping the questions a little bit simpler is not an unreasonable expectation.

there's no need to mock Delfino's english ("you like Pistons? you defense good."), but you knew that Delfino wasn't going to pick up on Stoney's attempt at humor. my pet peeve with Stoney interviews is that he always manages to sneak in his opinion between questions, in an effort to get in the last word.

I had a HARD time figuring out what he was saying but what I got loud and clear was that right now, he's content with his role and the team. You can tell when a person is trying to cover up what he thinks. He was speaking openly and sticking to the basics. The guys gotten in trouble for running his mouth so I would expect that.
