Re: Mike & Mike announced that Mike James will be a Piston

Brevin Knight is a good starter for a bad team. He's probably ideal.

Makes $4.4 million this year, $4.2 million next year, provides Billups insurance, only issue is that he is injury prone and misses a lot of games each season.

I can't see the 'cats parting with him unless a first round pick was included, or maybe some cash. Say Flip Murray, cash and and 1st rounder. Sounds steep doesn't it?

I got a weird feeling that the 'cats may try to bring in Vince Carter this offseason. Trading for Knight for Murray could help them clear some more salary room.

Man, oh, man. if the expectations of the Pistons were not so high, maybe we could see how Amir and maxiell will pan out. If we lose Chauncy during the off season, I will just be sitting here wondering, wo will be the next to dip out. Are there any lifers in the league anymore??The only way I see James playing for Detroit is the possiblity of Billups leaving. After he saw been leave, it made it that much easier to say goodbye to the D. So, after this season, we say good bye to chauncy, flip and flip, jr., webber, dale davis, Nazr, lindsey. Do we finally embrace growth, next season when we introduce (insert names)??

I think for 40 games plus including the playoff James would tolerate playing 10-15 minutes a game.

But I don't think he would want to do going forward next year.

I don't feel sorry for Naz...might be the best thing for him with the way he has been treated.

He can be a starter or a first rate sub. Five years of drawing a paycheck, no matter where, is not too shabby.

Still hard for me to believe that JD would let this happen.

If Mike James will be a Piston again, then YEAH!!!!

Lindsey Hunter is going. He can take his place.

Resign Chauncey man. Joe D has said it. And there is no reason to believe that he'd do otherwise.

Dale Davis is probably going leaving a spot for Jmax and Amir. Don't worry guys. It's gonna be good just as long as our young guns keep working hard and don't go all Darko on us.

Flip and Nazr will probably get traded and I really don't see them as fixtures for the Pistons future.

The Pistons win the title. They would likely re-sign Billups and deal James away in the offseason or force Hunter to retire early.

Outcome 2

The Pistons come up substantially short in the playoffs (Conference Final loss or earlier). They might look to do a sign & trade for Billups, or follow the above possibilities (trade James, Hunter retirement).

James isn't a horrible starter, but he's definitely not a top 10 PG. Maybe just getting in with a starting lineup of Prince, Rip and Wallace surrounding him. I'm not sure.

It is definitely insurance if Billups gets an offer and the Pistons are not prepared to match it. Lessen the blow, so to speak.
Not a horrible starter? This guy is 31 (anyone can change, right?) and he is all about me...a true chemistry killer. I would rather bring over Acker.

I'm imagining the Pit Bulls & The Goon Squad with Delf & Dice as the 5th guy on the 2nd unit. That will be amazing! WOW!!!

You're right.
He totally blew the team's chemistry down the toilet the first time he was here.

Yeah, I'm not excited about this potential trade. There's usually a reason when guys like M. James never stick with a team. I appreciate what he did in 2004, but that was a long time ago (in NBA years, at least).
