Whatever stats you have the Pistons have a decent point diff at a little over 4 a game. Puts us in the top 5. Thats a pretty good stat and gives you the bottom line of points scored/against.

Re: Bulls Defense

These are the "last 10" stats.
NBA 06-07 Team Rankings

I prefer looking at recent trends than factoring how the team did in Nov with Flip Murray instead of Lindsey Hunter and Nazr Mohammed instead of Chris Webber.

It's the same way I run my fantasy teams. What have you done for me lately.

Re: Bulls Defense

I would need to see the data before Webber and after Webber.

Our D improved on a possession basis after he got here, but I haven't seen it quantified in a while. I wish 82games could give you data as of a certain date.

I think that there is still room for a better NBA statistical website out there. Right now, you kind of have to go to a few sources to get what you are looking for.

Re: Bulls Defense

This sort of leads me to an old question-

Would the Bulls have been better off keeping Chandler than getting Ben Wallace?

Chandler just had a streak of 15 straight games with 12+ rebounds. Only 3 players in history have done that!

He also had 9 straight double-doubles.

He is 3rd in the league in rebounding behind Garnett (who gets a lot more minutes) and Howard (who is a physical freak). He has 100 more rebounds than Ben already.

I know Ben gets more steals and all that, but he is also getting paid a lot more. And, the Bulls were looking for a true Center. With Tyson, it would have probably been easier to find a PF to add to the mix.

Re: Bulls Defense

The problem is monetizing an NBA stats website. There is a major capital investment to build the engine, and as far as I can see, no way to recover that investment and ongoing expenses.

Re: Bulls Defense

Look at Turnovers for and against. Thats been the Pistons bread and butter defense this season. Great passing on offense and creating TO's on defense.

That is built into those per 100 numbers though. If you turn it over, then it counts as 0 points for that possession. Even with that huge turnover advantage, our point spread is not that great... maybe it is post Webber, I just don't have that breakout.

What I don't understand, it how offensive rebounding is built in. If the Pistons get an offensive rebound, my understanding is that it prolongs the possession vs. starting a new one. So, one team will never have 100 possessions to the other teams 95 for example. If that is true, then the offensive rebounding will account for the difference between eFG% and points scored per 100.

You still "believe" this is an offensive team?

Btw, in their last 10, the Pistons are #1 in PPG defense.

They beat the Cavs, the Bulls, the Raps, the Lakers, the Magic 2x and lost to the Purrs. Is that lineup the "worst" the league has to offer?
TaShawn sees what I see, but he sees it in numbers.

But his #s still don't address our recent play, strength of schedule, or current lineup. They take into account the entire season which as far as I am concerned is as relevant to our next game as the 2004 Finals.

The Pistons have been the hottest team in the East for the last three weeks and doing it with defense. That would be obvious to a blind man.

Re: Bulls Defense

Pistons +2.0 in rebound differential. That's a welcome sight, too.
