If the Chicago Bears played as physical a defense against the Colts as the Bulls are playing today against he Pistons Peyton might still be looking for his first ring.

Pistons shoot 37%. I don't think that there were more than 3 shots that they took inside the paint that they weren't fouled on. All the more power to the Bulls if they can get away with it.

Re: Bulls Defense

They did give us a hard time inside when we tried to go there.

Re: Bulls Defense

I lke their defense, very athletic, quick and they contest just about every shot. Ben would be in their face if they didn`t.

It`s the offensive end that is going to cause problems for them.

Re: Bulls Defense

I think the Bulls will be the Piston toughest match-up in the playoffs wether it be in the second round or conference finals. I think we handle everyone else with ease. I assume Nocioni will be back then and that gives them even more of an inside/outside game. I know the bulls live and die by the outside shot, but we can only hope that they are dying come playoff time.

Their defense however gave the Pistons fits the last two games as we shot less than 40%. They are physical and will play off Ben's energy, which we seem to be intimitated by?

Re: Bulls Defense

Still cannot get an accurate asessment on the bulls and how well they match up against us because:

Game #1 ----Billups was out and we didn't have Webber

Game #2 ----Rasheed missed almost the whole game due to injury and Webber, even though he had a good game, we did not see his best because of his eye injury.

If Rasheed played the entire game, we would have seen more scoring in the paint.

Yes I agree that the Bulls could be the toughest battle for the Pistons. Any team that plays tough physical defense and still? (I thought they changed the rules) can get away with hand checking on the guards etc is a tough opponent.

Reminiscent of the Bad Boys. Beam me up Scotty would have made a Bab Bad Boy.

The flagrant forearm to the face of RIP on the drive to the hoop which was not called and the throw down on the last play of the game (I don't believe anyone would do a flop in that situation, because the odds are very long that you will get the call) are just two examples of what is to be expected in the future. We need a couple of JMax's to counter them. I believe when he came in the Bulls had their biggest lead and then the Pistons caught up.

Re: Bulls Defense

The bottom line is that if a team establishes a consistent identity, the refs will adjust to call them within their identity.

The handchecking rule stuff is so much nonsense. In the playoffs in every sport, defense is at a premium. I refuse to believe that a team can avoid defense as part of a successful philosophy.

Players like Hunter get away with more than other players simply because the refs recognize their style of play. Sure you can't body up too much on the perimeter, but I'm seeing far less reaching in fouls than I ever saw in the past.

I agree.

With Big Ben and Beam Me Up Scotty their two leaders I would be surprised if they played any other type of defense. The Pistons are just going to have to deal with it if they face them in the playoffs.

Re: Bulls Defense

We did most of the come back with BBeen on the bench. When he came back in they turned the table again.
