I'm not attacking 'your person' that would be something different.

You got off awful easy on that and I'm not even really 'going there'.

And you're going to say I'm dreaming for something that would have worked under the cap sending Nazr and Flip or Dale Davis and a pick to the Clips for a player that was clearly on the market and at odds with his coach?

In the first 53 games of the 2006-2007 season leading up to the All Star break, Corey Maggette started 4 times. He has started all 7 games since the All Star break. It may or may not be more than a coincidence that 6 of those games were after the NBA's trading deadline. In the last 7 games as a starter, Maggette is tied for the team lead in points per game (19.1, same as Elton Brand), which is not particularly surprising since we all knew he could score. What is a surprise is that he is also leading the team in field goal percentage (48.2% compared to the slumping Brand's 46.5%) and steals (2 per game) since the All Star break. He's also averaging 3.7 assists, which is above his career season high, and also, sadly, leads the team. So all the things we thought we knew about Corey (if only because MDsr continued to remind us) - that he's a poor defender, exercises poor shot selection and doesn't share the ball - have turned out not to be true, at least for these seven games.
Clips Nation :: Why Now?

I'm going to stop posting in this thread also as I don't want to Hijack off the topic of Playing Amir which is something I think we can all agree on as a viable option.

I can no longer edit or I would...

I wanted to insert this...

And from Mr. Simmons.

Anyway, I couldn't resist handing out a deadline report card to commemorate what amounted to be a collective chemical castration Thursday. In reverse order, according to the standings:

DETROIT: D-plus
Good move landing C-Webb for nothing. I didn't think that one would work out, mainly because he was limping around in Philly like he had a club foot. Whatever. Still, the Pistons needed one more move to lock up the East and had the expiring contracts and picks (their No. 1 and Orlando's No. 1) to pull it off. Gerald Wallace couldn't have helped this team? Josh Childress? Corey Maggette? Desmond Mason? Earl Watson? Cuttino Mobley? It's like Joe Dumars has been biding his time and waiting for the right moment to spring, only the biding has been going on for four straight years and there's been no springing.

Yeah, Joe lacks balls because he didn't acquire a Jerry Stackhouse clone like Maggette or Mason. That's the key to playoff success, uh-huh.

Maggette is a driver not a bad jumpshooter like Jackhouse was/is. He would give them a slasher which they need and some muscle at the 2/3 which Tay and Rip don't provide.

The point is "THE TIME IS NOW, SEIZE THE DAY", don't go into a gunfight with one bullet instead of a full clip.

Running Rip and Tay and Chauncey into the ground isn't the key to success either.

Having a potent/competent bench like 2004, not a lame ass one like 05' and 06' is.

wow, way to bail on somebody instantaneously...

And just because I posted an article doesn't mean I agree with every word of it...

Speaking of Lanier... I just read 'breaks of the game' but clearly I have no desire to learn more about the NBA...

Yes stack was but no longer is a driver. He's more of a pull up guy or a bomber and Magette is much stronger and would be asked to play a smaller role.

Maybe Nazr will call in sick tonight and Amir will get to wear a Piston suit rather than a Armani Suit.

Once he is on the bench he could even get a chance to play.

Come on Flip, don't turn AJ into the second coming of Darko. I would hate to see a Magic front line of Darko, AJ and Howard.

Even though I am agreeing and would love to see AJ get some minutes, you know that is not happening. No matter how bad the situation is Flip is going with starters. He will live or die with them on the court.

Dreaming is good for the soul, just like dreaming that CM will become a Piston. We all need our dreams, even if some of them become nightmares.

Re: Amir Johnson - Detroit Piston Tracker

How many times have you guys actually watched Maggette play? If you were to present Corey Maggette with a number of options on any given possesion, then he would undoubtably choose the worst possible one. He launches contested jumpers with 18 seconds on the shot clock. He misses wide open team mates, and rountinely decides that he should pass the ball AFTER he's already jumped into the air. I would rather play that Corky kid from "Life Goes On" during the fourth quarter of a playoff game.

Corey Maggette is a F'n retard. That's why he doesn't even start on a team that can't make the playoffs.

As for the topic, could Amir Help us? Maybe, but I'm sure that Davis and Maxxy could help us more than Webber.
