Something ain't right here.
Typical scale used in doctors' offices athletic facility. It has a bar on top for measuring height.

The whole unit is referred to as "a scale". If any part of the unit including the measuring for height parts are broken someone will just say that the scale is broken, regardless of which part was broken. So hence his statement the scale is broken, can be expanded to say that the measuring part of the scale is broken, which no one would use in normal conversation.

So, the Pistons Organization only has one scale which happens to have a broken measuring thingy, and they have no tape measures, or access to one of those walls with the little hash marks on it.

I guess that the Sioux Falls Skyforce, being a minor league team, probably doesn't have a scale with a measuring bar on it at all.

Hopefully, someday we will have the technology to measure this kid. Until then, I guess the best we can hope for is speculation based on his proximity to people of known height.

check out AJ at Osborne High School.

1 Check his sweatshirt
2. He is definitely taller than 6'9"
3. Check his haircut and mustache. Look familiar? It should. It is the old Joe D. look before he gained weight.

Looks like 6'11" is probably the minimum and he still might be growing.

Amir’s OK
by Keith Langlois

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Amir Johnson gave the Pistons their first scare of training camp Friday night when he crumpled to the court under the basket, grabbing at his left ankle. But X-rays were negative, Johnson took treatment on Saturday morning and the Pistons say his status is day to day.

Johnson, a 6-foot-11 forward who came to the Pistons out of high school in the 2005 draft, spent most of his first two seasons on the inactive list or in the NBA Development League, but all that time he spent in practice against All-Star-caliber players like Rasheed Wallace, Ben Wallace, Chris Webber and Antonio McDyess and solid old pros like Dale Davis and Nazr Mohammed have him poised to crack the rotation this season.

In the Pistons’ open practice at Oakland University on Thursday night, Johnson scored 12 points and made a jaw-dropping move on 7-foot-1 rookie Cheikh Samb, exploding past him, scoring and drawing the foul.
AJ is the man.

Amir Johnson keeps on growing. Arnie Kander, Detroit’s strength and conditioning coach, said the 20-year-old is 6-foot-11 1/2. He was 6-9 in 2005 when the Pistons drafted him.

As we all know, his height has been a recurring topic of conversation amongst fans, but a measurement precise all the way down to half an inch has to be taken at face value, no? For those who remain unconvinced, I’ll add this: he definitely seemed to be the tallest player I spoke with at Media Day. Granted, I didn’t talk to Cheick Samb, but I was a part of the scrum surrounding Rasheed Wallace and I did talk one on one with Nazr Mohammed.
It seems the more he doesn't play the more he grows. LOL

I will rely on Arnie Kander's opinion.

Working scale or no working scale.

The fact is that it is pretty conclusive at this point that he is now the tallest Pistons player, not counting Cheikh who will be in the D league.

7 feet plus is not out of the question by the time AJ is done growing, since he is still growing.

I would think that he is now just a bit too tall to play small forward.

Thank you.

Is there a magic height limit for the SF spot? I seem to recall several "6-10/11-ish" cats who could play that spot. What's wrong with versatility?

Re: Amir Johnson - Detroit Piston Tracker

The height limit for a small forward is 6' 9.87" anyone 6' 9.88" and over is officially classified as a power forward. There is no minimum as that would exclude 94% of america and just about 100% from Vietnam.
