Good answer! I knew there was a magic number. OK you win. Amir is hereby classified as a PF. LOL!

It depends on the league you are in.

In the DS9 league there is no size limitation for any position because of the weightlessness factor in the holographic suites.

In the Stargate Atlantis league only those players restricted to the 9 - 5 time slot can play the small forward position.

In the NBA the position on the court of all players is determined by their relative skills for that position compared to the other players on the team.

Yes all NBA players can be like Magic Johnson and play all the positions if they have the ability provided they have the proper pair of sneakers for that position.

Saunders said it has hurt Johnson to miss most of training camp.

“When he gets back, he’s going to have to get on a crash course to facilitate his progress, to try to get into the rotation,” Saunders said. “He’ll have to do a lot of things in practice.”
Saunders still learning about his rookies and young players

The thought occurred to me.

Is AJ eligible for rookie award consideration since he has only played in 11 games with the Pistons before this year?

I don't think so, but then I don't know if there are rules in the NBA like in the NHL or MLB that allow a player to keep their rookie status as long as they don't play so many games or have so many ABs.

For example:

Hockey Rookie Rules
------------------------

Quote:

Rookie Qualifications
To be considered a rookie, a player must not have played in 25 or more NHL games in any preceding seasons, nor in six or more NHL games in each of any two preceding seasons. Any player at least 26 years of age (by September 15th of that season) is not considered a rookie.
Baseball Rookie Rules
--------------------

Quote:

A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has1) Exceeded 130 at bats or 50 innings pitched in the major leagues, or(2) Accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a major league club or clubs during the period of the 25-man roster (excluding time in military service).
Does anyone know what the NBA rules are for maintaining rookie qualification if you had previously been on the active roster or played in a limited number of games?

Flip just said in interview with Mark Champion regarding AJ.

1. Right now he can't leap anywhere near as high as he could before the injury.

2. Flip will limit him to no more than 10 minutes tonight.

He sounds really rusty, which I what I kind of expected.

I think he is now the 12th guy on the bench and will get garbage time for quite a while, until he shows that he deserves more by his play.

Didn't you ever open a door or lid with rusty hinges?

That is what it sounds like.

Amir sounded like a squeaky door? Arnie Kander will have to get out the ole' WD-40.

Led the Pistons in FG% again.

100% for the pre-season. Can't beat that.

He led us last year in FG% at .545

In 2005-06 he led us in FG% with .700
