I say put him on the playoff roster and play him as appropriate. Even if he only gets 5 minutes a game in the NBA playoffs that will be more beneficial, to the Pistons and to him than getting 35 minutes a game in the D-League playoffs.

You got to take a chance if you want the gain.

Waiting for him to be NBA perfect before they keep on the roster would be just stupid. His desire, athleticism and talent makes him deserving of a spot on the playoff roster.

Buddha, the rule changed this year about declaring a playoff roster. You don't have to do it. It works like the regular season. You announce for each game which 12 players you want active. So, the Pistons could, for example, dress Amir for some games and Nazr for other games. You may dress different players for each game/series depending on the matchups, injuries, etc.

Yup. It took until the 21st post for someone to point that out. Everybody will be on the 15-man roster, and who gets to dress is game to game. This is from an ESPN article about the rule:
Quote:
The league's board of governors also voted to expand the postseason rosters to 15, instead of 13, with 12 players active for each game. That duplicates the rule used in the regular season.

The NBA champion Miami Heat were among those that criticized the policy that forced teams to carry fewer players in the playoffs than during the season.
Thanks Miami. Now Flip can use Amir against non-Shaq teams, and still have both DD and Nazr against the Heat.

After running down that second Dalembert block and getting the assist to Rip, Amir should have slapped Chauncey on top of the head and told him, "This isn't the Old Folks Home. Up here, we hustle for loose balls."

I love how easily CB transitions to coach when the games mean nothing.

DREW SHARP: Johnson's poised to erase Darko fiasco

Quote:
Darko who?

"I always heard a lot about him," Pistons center Amir Johnson said Tuesday. "But I never knew what his story was here."

Informed how the Pistons wasted the No. 2 overall draft choice on Darko Milicic in 2003 instead of selecting, well, any number of other players, Johnson offered a muffled "Oh" in response.

"Well, that was then," Johnson said. "All I know is that I want to be that player that people here can count on doing some big things for the Detroit Pistons in a couple years. That means a lot of hard work, but that's the only way you're going to get it done."

Re: Amir Johnson - Detroit Piston Tracker

Darko who? Is that who that 7' white dude in the shower was?

You mean my teammate last year who assisted on my first NBA basket (the windmill dunk)?

Propaganda.

He can't be serious. Amir didn't know who Darko was taken ahead of?

My thoughts exactly. I remember Darko being very un-Darko and using his speed to intercept a pass and throw it down to Amir for the cherry pick. I liked Darko more for that one play than anything else he ever did as a Piston, because it was obvious he was trying to get the kid a basket.

I'm going to assume that Amir played dumb to avoid stirring anything up. That works with Sharp, whose grasp of detail ain't great - as witnessed by his calling Amir a center just a few words into the column.

I was just thinking given how that AJ is starting to look more and more like the best Piston rebounder why not put him into the rotation thus.

When Billups or Rip and Sheed or C-Webb go out. Put AJ and Dyess in move Prince to the shooting guard and with either C-Bill or Rip as the point guard. When Prince goes out Delfino can play the off guard.

I think that having Dyess and AJ in there at the same time gives the second unit some excellent rebounding ability as well as up front scoring. Prince and Delfino can play the off guard more than adequately for the second unit, as they have done so in the past.

I really like this this substitution pattern.
