Discuss: Amir Johnson - Detroit Piston Tracker at Detroit Pistons Fan Community - PistonsForum.com

Isn't that kinda like saying that politicians don't have to say what voters want to hear?...

Absolutly. Its Darko all over again. And the team did not learn anything from it. Same old lines "He is only 21", "Future of the Pistons", "Learn in practice"....

It was no answer at all. What people want to know is whether this is still "Amir's year." or is that all on hold. Will Amir be part of the playoff picture, or not.

PS) I noticed a whole lot of empty seats at the Palace tonight. When the game started, hardly anyone was there. There is nothing resembling fan enthusiasm at the Palace that I have ever noticed in the many games I have attended so far this season. Just maybe the fans, expecting so much change this season, are very disenchanted seeing that all the change amounts to JMAX finally getting to play more, and Stuckey getting to play. (No, don't think for a second that Hayes is a guy who fans have been hoping to see play.) (Oh, and don't tell me they come to see Dyess play another 8 minutes a game vs. last season.) In sum, we get Stuckey as the only new player to see when we are at games. And that is very thin indeed compared to the promises Dumars made to start this season. (and very thin compared to the propaganda still being put out about how we are developing our young guys, and how they are injecting energy into the team. Its a big lie, and fans ain't being fooled.)

Re: Amir Johnson - Detroit Piston Tracker

We now have a new reason Amir doesn't play. Apparently he fouls too much!

Don't remember the exact quote, but apparently he needs a "greater understanding of what we're trying to do" He picks up like 4 or 5 fouls quick. He will get it once he becomes more experienced (from sitting on the bench)

This is getting comical.

Who cares if the kid picks up a foul or two. He's NOT playing 48 min, and his positives more than make up for it.

Now that is true blue BS. Maxiell used to be a foul machine as well; he actually still is every now and then. Nazr was incredibly foul prone. Dice can be. Brezec is as well. The only way he'll learn is to play. I wonder if Flip even realizes that.

Re: Amir Johnson - Detroit Piston Tracker

The explanation for AA not playing was to give Stucky more time with the starters. I am assuming that it has become a "priority-type" thing. Flip found it too difficult to integrate more then one bench player at a time. Sounds like he and Joe sat down before last nites game and decided to shorten the rotation "for a while" to get Stuckey more ready to help in the play off run.

Sounds like when they feel that Stuckey is more acclimated to what they are trying to accomplish and more efficient; they will integrate another bench player. I guess once they feel that Stuck is more prepared they will decide whether to begin preparing another guard (AA) or a 4th big (AJ).

To be honest; I am O.K. with this plan if that is what is going on. Stuck has seemed out of sorts and I would not want him trying to lead us in the play offs for any length of time at this point.

actually..... i know his mins are limited and i am not going to figure out his fouls per min but...

1 game with 5 fouls
1 game with 4 fouls
3 games with 3 fouls
5 games with 2 fouls
7 games with 1 foul
6 games with 0 fouls

so probably tons of bad fouls in there and to many for a starter for sure, but to say he's picking up 4-5 fouls everytime he goes in for 12 mins is a bit a stretch.

his per game average per fouls is 1.5 a game... I can say there are alot of reasons to not give him crunch time, and maybe he won't be able to play 20 mins a game or anything but to say he's fouling as much as he is is not true.

Its not Darko all over again.

AJ will get meaningful minutes beginning next year, provided he doesn't get seriously injured.

Ya all are making a big mistake. By year three you should know this by now: When Flip talks to the media, he rattles off some inane BS to get folks off his back. Take everything he says with a grain of salt and life will taste that much better.

Should we take everything he does with a grain of salt as well?
