CWebb: "I still feel I haven't gotten the respect I deserve"

Big article on Chris Webber in USA Today: Home cooking hits the spot for Detroit's Webber - USATODAY.com

CWebb talks about how he is "driven" to win an NBA Championship. Joe D sees a "sense of urgency" with CWebb. The Pistons certainly need some of that. They need some sort of driving, motivating force ("Win it for CWebb and Dyess", etc.).

Bill Walton, Pat Riley, and Marc Jackson comment on how the Piston offense has improved with CWebb's arrival. Jack Ramsey, however, questions the professionalism of CWebb since he magically got healthy once he left Philly.

Re: CWebb: "I still feel I haven't gotten the respect I deserve"

I found the Billup's quote interesting...

Billups says Webber's presence has especially benefited him because the Pistons can run their offense through Webber.

"He has taken so much pressure off me because he makes plays," Billups says.

"My assists have gone down because I find myself giving him the ball and letting him make plays for everybody."

I'm guessing Chauncey is a bit conflicted about his feeling's regarding Webber making plays and taking away his assists.

It's a contract year.

Ben's stats declined and we didn't pay him the max.

CB's stats assists are declining, so he wants to make sure that everyone knows why that is happening. And he spun it in a positive way... a wise move.

I suppose it all comes down to squeezing every last dollar out of that next contract? What would Eddie Brinkman think about that?...he topped out at about $60,000 per year.

If Webbs 6'10" 280lb. azzzzzz would finish like Amir might do, there wouldn't be a prob. I don't think Tay has a problem with it though.
If Dyess and Webb can't get it done this year...they have only themselves to blame.
Git r done

All-Star in waiting Tayshaun Prince
I love how the media can scarcely contain their desire to annoint Prince an All-Star.

Until his injury, CWebb was always given just about exactly the respect he's deserved - he's a superstar, but a choker and a born loser. Being the sixth-best player on a (supposed) contender allows him to be used to what strengths he still has while minimising his weaknesses, but I'm not sure it will have any effect on perceptions of his career; he's already a Hall-of-Famer.

I cant stand Jack Ramsey he's always been a hater along with Hubie Brown. Although I have a good amount of respect for Hubie. This is the same guy who stated that Philly could possibly beat us in the 1st round in 05'.

This sounds pretty personal, usually an indication of jealousy...

Bill, I know you aren't trying to make a personal comment about ahb.

When you make a joke, please add a smilie face or grin smilie so everyone understands your sense of humour.
