I don't believe that they are the same type of stress. Dodging bullets is a matter of life and death, which one does not get paid to do and is usually done without a public audience.
Playing professional sports especially in championship competition involves the psychology of failure in public. That is an entirely different stress and for some people more so than dodging bullets is.
P.S. I am not saying dodging bullets does not involve stress but just because you grow up dodging bullets doesn't mean that you can handle the psychology of failure in public when you are getting paid big bucks to perform.
