The Pistons shutting up just isn't gonna happen. Watching other stars on equally talented teams (read - Shaq, Wade, ect.) not getting the calls will unravel this team again. I applaud Sharp for his column..

This BS against the Pistons has been going on since the playing days of Zeke. All good Pistons teams, except in the Brown era, were subjected to this league bias against them. When Brown was the coach it was mitigated out of the leagues respect? for Brown.

AJ may be able to turn things around, but short of a league poster boy, as long as Stern is running the league this is how it will be.

From Matt Dery's blog

Quote:
I want to work at the Freep

Doesn't this sound like a plush gig?

Fly down to Orlando for free, stay in a nice hotel for free, maybe get some food paid for by your employer, head over to Amway Arena to watch the Pistons and Magic play game 3, write a column in the first quarter of the game, add some quotes at the end and be done. How sweet does that sound?

The #2 sports columnist at the Free Press did that yesterday and I want his job. My guess is that at about 3 in the afternoon when he got bored of watching day-time TV in his hotel room, he started his masterpiece. He probably figured the Pistons would fly off the handle a little bit and get a few technical fouls, so he went with that angle. It is what one-trick pony writers who work the same angles do. Trust me, I have seen this before and he is not the only guy or girl in town who does this. Just figured I would point it out.

If you follow the Pistons today and read the paper, you are probably shaking your head.

Is this sarcasm or actual angst against the FREEP writers?

I don't know what it is, but I'm with Dery. Drew is a complete joke and waste of everyone's time. He's the armageddon type of guy - the end is near, the end is near!!! Everything is bad.

More about the article. I think Pistons have been doing what they needed in the playoffs to get the wins, so why start this nonsence? They said they'll play better in the playoffs - and they are doing it. I know there is room for improvement, but they put in more effort, they are more consistent and they do the little things needed. I'm sure when it matters, they'll keep their mouths shut and not give up additional points, etc.

I think deep down inside, the refs like Sheed because he gives them a chance to be on stage.

Re: Drew Sharp: Pistons officially fixated on refs

Little too much ado for me.

Sheed's tech was a Sheed tech. Nothing to be done except protect him when you can and ride him when he gets going. Newsflash - Sheed gets techs.

Dice's was, well, pretty incomprehensible. Nine out of ten times nothing gets called.

And DD and Rip? I liked them both. Nice scrappy, forearm shiver kinds of techs. Both well deserved and both messages sent and received.

The one on Rip was lame. Howard should have been T'd up for pushing him, but he already had one earlier in the game, so the refs didn't want to run him. I don't mind that, but if that's the situation, you can't T up the other guy alone. Just let it go without any techs on anyone.
