You can really see the potential for an NBA team to abuse this sort of thing. Imagine the Cavs, for example, giving LeBron a contract in his final year of his career for say $1 million to help ease their salary cap situation. Then, LeBron retires the next year and the Cavs give him a "consulting" job for $25 million. There must be some sort of precautions in the bylaws to prevent this type of nonsense.

Re: Hunter retiring?

My guess would be that if the contract can come off the books, the money will be used on Billups, and not on someone like Acker who is guaranteed $1million + in Europe next year.

Re: Hunter retiring?

I thought that his two year deal was one year of playing, and then another of "locker room presence" and front office training. Seems like I read an article about that when he was signed. Maybe I just made it up because thats what I thought should happen.

With Lindsey in the front office I have some concern that he may carry his on court modus operandi to the front office and the whole operation may slow down. LOL

Actually I think it will be good all the way around. I wonder if he will be able to work with guards in the summer and in training camp on their defense. Though a lot of defense is base on natural ability, you can certainly improve someone's defense with the right teaching/coaching.

He just needs to cut down on his thieving and he'll be fine.

Re: Hunter retiring?

Why the bad will towards Lindsey?

He seemed to finish the season really strong.

PS. I heard he's being evaluated for a front office role as VP of diet supplement evaluation.

I think Lindsey should be fine. I met him a few years back at the basketball camp while working at the JCC in West Bloomfield. Seemed to be pretty down to earth and very smart guy. I think he'll do well in management.

He was -70 in the regular season, and last on the team.

In the last 10 games of the regular season, he was -4. So, I guess he did improve a bit... but during those same 10 games, Dyess was +71, so yeah.

But in the playoffs this year, he is -17 in only 9:42. Also, last on the team.

For whatever reason, we seem to ALWAYS get outscored when he is on the court, either by a lot or by a little.

Re: Hunter retiring?

I was flipping thru my Tales from the Pistons book and they said that Lindsey just isn't a guy you want to handle the ball and control the offense. He worked best when Hill or me (Dumars) handled the ball and he could float around and look to score. Yeah. Thats why he's -70. We should have worked Delfino/Tay and backup handlers. Water under the bridge. Its game time.

Re: Hunter retiring?

Hunter isn't a PG he's a shooting guard who can't shoot.
