If Delfino Can Break Down Our Defense We Are In Big Trouble

Quote:
And yet, for the better part of an hour, in a sweaty gym away from the crowds, Carlos Delfino got to wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted, with grace and ease. He hit threes. He drove and dished. He drove and dunked. He hit fallaway jumpers from the baseline that were as gorgeous as a sunset over the Pacific.

Whenever Delfino got a step on his defender, Rasheed Wallace, who was offering R-rated commentary from the edge of the court, hollered: "DUNK."
Delfino's game has some sizzle

I like Delfino's game and his attitude, but come on if he really can just toy with our defense then either.

1. They really weren't exerting themselves, which hopefully they will do against the Bulls

2. Or we are big big trouble starting this Saturday. Because if Delfino can break down our defense I hate to think what Gordon, Deng, Hinrich and company will be able to do with it next week.

Notice Rasheed wasn't actually playing.

This was likely against alot of bench players.

So who was Carlos bustin' up?

Dupree?

If Delfino is doing this well in practice, I agree, it is a bad sign. Of course, it was just practice and there were reports of Darko having great practices and Ben Wallace stroking his free throws like he was Chauncey in practice too...hmmm.

i don't think we are in trouble. just maybe chicago is in trouble. delfino isn't some scrub. he's a legit world champion baller. he has plenty of game he's just been held back by a few coaches and systems that don't use his abilities. it's no surprise to me that he can do well in practice.

Carlos is young, and confidence is everything for him at this point. If he's practicing well, it should carry over to games. We're gunna need every bullet in the bandolero.

Hey, he's the Dan Majerle of Argentina. How are bench players going to stop THAT?

Actually, that's not a bad comparison. Similar size and style.

Go Carlos

Quote:
Don't cry for me Argentina
The truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance

And as for fortune, and as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the world they were all I desired

They are illusions
They are not the solutions they promised to be
The answer was here all the time
I love you and hope you love me

Don't cry for me Argentina
Madonna Lyrics - Don't Cry For Me Argentina Lyrics

The Piston starters are certainly vulnerable to guard penetration. It wouldn't surprise me to hear Delfino lighting them up once in a while at practice. I'm sure lots of bench guys (Stackhouse, Barbosa, Darko, Mo Evans, etc.) go off in practice at times.

Re: If Delfino Can Break Down Our Defense We Are In Big Trouble

I think if we had the misfortune of losing tay for a few weeks, we'd have seen a different Delfino emerge. I am just guessing but i think in practice CD has more opportunities to have the ball in his hands. There is a big difference between trying to shine and being depended on to produce.

during short periods during the season, we should have allowed CD to be a focal point of our bench offense. as it was, it took a higher hand to even get him on the floor.

As all golfers know, hitting good shots on the range is different than hitting good shots on the course.
