CWebb MIA

Pistons: Webb wanted

Quote:
Chris Webber has said repeatedly since joining the Pistons he was strictly a need-based performer. Whatever the Pistons' need on a given night is what he would try to bring.

After Webber's two scoreless games in Chicago, the Pistons have put out the call. They need him to bring the entire package.

"I am sure he's somewhat frustrated," Pistons coach Flip Saunders said after a short practice Monday. "That's why we have to get him back in the fold. He's a big part of what we do. … We have to try and get Webb more open looks."

Re: CWebb MIA

Maybe this is some sort of protest by Webber. The locker room conditions are not up to his liking? Wrong flavor gatorade? Or maybe he is just trying to perform in line with his $700K contract.

I don't know but its taking a lot of pressure off Wallace. Webb needs to start hitting some shots so Ben is not out there roaming free creating havoc.

Re: CWebb MIA

Web needs to get back to his earlier form. Need his passing along with more drives to the basket. Noone on Bulls can stop him. His hook also a weapon that Chicago can't defend against. Need him to step up and help wrap up the series. He always says that he wants to win the ring, well, he needs to show it with his game.

Re: CWebb MIA

Webber had a huge Game 2 against the Bulls, but other than that his numbers have really fallen off since the first round.

Shooting 10 for 11, and then going 0 for 8 over the next two games is kind of weird. His rebounding has also fallen off the last two games, but you wouldn't expect him to take many rebounds away from Ben.

I hope he's not hurt. If he is, maybe Flip should shut him down for a couple of games against Cleveland and get JMax in there. If Webber can bounce back and have a decent game tonight I will be very relieved.

Re: CWebb MIA

I think it could just be the Bulls are a bad matchup for Chris. The Bulls are young and quick. Webber doesn't have all day to make a move against this team as guys can help out on him a lot quicker.

And Billups has also been running a lot more of the offense against the Bulls. The ball doesn't seem to be going through Chris as much anymore because Chauncey has been tearing up the Bulls guards. Perhaps that shift in focus away from Webber has deflated his game.

I believe Chris will be fine. He will match up a lot better against Big ZZZ and Gooden, and even better against the Nets if they somehow get through.

Re: CWebb MIA

Didn't you all know? CWebb just didn't make the trip to Chitown. The guy wearing number 84 was really Tremaine Folkes former Piston (who got a ring) wearing a Cwebb mask. That explains the low productivity. Folkes had to go because Cwebb had the flu

Webber will be back tonight, but CB needs to find him in the paint and not 15 feet from the hoop. In other words get him involved early under the hoop. Funny everyone talks about his passing skills which are good, they have not amounted into assists as he is only averaging 1.75 per game. set him up in the post with Ben and see if he can at least assist some more hoops if he can't score any.

Common Chris, where the heck is that ultra annoying scowl that I've always hated so much?? Now that you're a Piston, I don't mind the scowl as much because it means you're making plays.

Re: CWebb MIA

Nothin to blame on Cwebb tonight. Not that many teams lose when they shoot 70% for almost three qtrs. He contributed a little on the offense, but not much on the defense....well nobody did.

Agreed. The entire team has to be responsible for this collapse. Lets hope someone can pick them up. I don't think Web has enough in the tank to be that guy.
