Re: Pistons/Cavs - Wallace vs. Gooden

I forget where I read it, but someone recently wrote that Sheed was ahead of his time as a PF with range.

We all complain about his treys, but isn't that what the MVP (Dirk) and Memo do? Neither of those guys can lead or defend like Sheed. Neither of them have the potential to be clutch like Sheed, and dare I say it, neither of those guys has the back to the basket game of Sheed. And yet both were All-Stars this season.

Heck, Sheed is the model for the Euro big man.

Folks have to understand that on an equal share team that if anything is tilted more towards guard scoring, Sheed is going to be at best a 3rd option and many nights, a 4th option. His #s reflect that. If he was demanding the rock, we might be worse.

Re: Pistons/Cavs - Wallace vs. Gooden

Is it just me or is Sheed taking more mid-range jumpers (rather than 3s) this playoffs? I only caught the 2nd half of last night's game, but I thought he was right on the money with his J's. I wonder if it's all part of Flip's grand scheme of things or if Sheed has finally figured out he'll shoot at higher percentage when he's closer to the basket...

Defensively, Sheed has been awesome (even if Marshall knocked down that trey). With Ben gone, we're finally seeing how good he really is. 7 blocks, wow. I can't wait to see him go one-on-one with Duncan in the Finals...

I find Sheed very entertaining to watch. He's multi-skilled, he has range, can post up, has a nice fadeaway jumper, can rebound, defend, is a team player, has a quirky personality, gives the best interviews, gets T'd up here and there (either you love it or hate it), and has the best pre-game dance routine. He may not pound it inside like the other PFs, but mid-range Js are like lay-ups to him. I believe that's his comfort zone, that's the way he plays, we can't force him to play like Duncan or Randolph.

Re: Pistons/Cavs - Wallace vs. Gooden

If Sheed would have been ripped off on just a few of those early blocks, this game would have been lost. That is how important it is to get calls.

The Cavs would have got free throws and Sheed would have been in foul trouble. He would've got T'd up too.

Even the calls that the announcers were complaining about on Lebron looked very clean to me. When Rip and Chauncey were stripped of the ball a few times, it was the same thing. We were frustrated and there was probably some contact, but when the defender gets 95% ball, you gotta let it go as a ref.

I thought the officiating was pretty good, a couple head scratchers each way but nothing much.

If wish TNT would have shown that block by LBJ on Tay to end the 3rd again, that was a goaltend on first viewing to me, and not showing a replay...

That means that it definitely hit glass first. Executive decision by TNT.

I rewound on my DVR to watch it again as they went into the half. It was unquestionably coming off the glass when LeBron swatted it, i.e. it was 100% goaltending.
