Hughes Out

Hughes out with a major foot / ankle injury per FREEP. Think this helps? Forces Gibson to play more who has been torching Stones. I say it def. swings balance more to Pistons since he does put a lot of speed and pressure on billups. Snow is slow so Billups can really take advantage.

As things stand right now, Hughes being out actually benefits the Cavs. One thing some of you guys need to realize is that Billups ALWAYS struggles against the Cavs, specifically Eric Snow. Snow is another strong PG that Big HEad can't bully and it has been affecting his game for years (see philly series and the twisted ankle). Gibson has been a flat out defensive stud that Bron is far more comfortable playing with as oppossed to Scary Larry. One decision that Mike Brown was going to need to make was sitting Hughes in order for Snow and Gibson to get more burn, that decision has now been made.

Re: Hughes Out

Lets hope the Pistons don't think they have an advantage with Hughes out. Gibson has been a challenge more so than we thought he would be. Those extra role players throw off the opposing teams, because their not scouted enough. look at what Oberto did tonight with 11/11 to the jazz. Heck look at what Jmax did to the Cavs on Thursday. He needs to play Tuesday if any of our bigs get in trouble.

Re: Hughes Out

Don't wanna see Hughes cause he has the shot........
On Tuesday night, he's gonna be hot.......
Over the arch, he'll be shootin a lot.......
Billups new contract, on the vine, it will rot.......
On Tuesday night, off the court we will trot........
Unfortunate losers, to be forgot..........

Unless our guards come out to play........
Then the course, we will stay.......
Happily Lebron James, we will filet........
Their coach, Mr. Brown will have to pray........
That Eric Snow isn't premature grey.......
And they may play another day.......

Re: Hughes Out

Why are we doubling against the Cavs?

That is all they want, playing right into their hands.

Stay at home and make LBJ a jumpshooter, he is worse from 16' than his teammates are from 3' and he's a lot worse from 16' than he is from 1 foot.

I know what your saying -- Snow has giving Billups some trouble due to his size, but Brown has shown an unwillingness to go with him in favor of the Lebron friendly Gibson. Although GIbson has been good - he has been a good spot up shooter. I still say Billups has a MAJOR advantage over Gibson if he starts. Billups can post him up menaing he'll play off the ball a bunch. This will eliminate the trap on some possessions and give the offense a needed boost.

Re: Hughes Out

The thing is, Ben Gordon Daniel Gibson will now be picking up starter fouls. So instead of going Hughes, Gibson, Snow, they will be going Gibson, Snow, ???

Larry is a natural 2 and that allowed the Cavs to go big. Without Hughes, the Cavs lose a substantial size advantage and Billups has always been bothered by long defenders.

Now I feel bad Larry is hurt, but I wouldn't mind if he took the rest of the series off.

The Cavs are, after all, a "No Excuse Team".

Re: Hughes Out

Hughes has got to be out for the rest of the year. It's a tear. Even if you ignore the pain, it would we stupid to play with that.

He wasn't playing well anyway (probably because of the soreness before the tear), so this should not affect the outcome of the series.
