McDyess - Was it a flagrant 2?

Here is my feeling. The refs were calling the game a little tight, but Bennett Salvatore usually does and then allow the game more flow towards the end.

When LBJ stepped towards McDyess, I think they ejected Antonio because

1) It's Detroit, home of the brawl

2) Keeping McDyess in could lead to a repeat incident, payback or further escalation.

If LeBron doesn't charge over there, it's a Flagrant 1.

What do you think?

I really thought a flagrant I was more than enough.

If he ran across the floor and delivered the same blow then Maybe...

But it was a bang bang play so it's not like he wound up and clobbered him or it was 'premeditated'.

The NBA has been ruined with this pansy ass %%%%.

Re: McDyess - Was it a flagrant 2?

Looked a lot like Rambis hitting the floor in the incident that started all this. I don't think there was intention, but I also don't know who the refs are supposed to judge that.

Good news for Vercingetorix that James didn't kick him in the head in his effort to look like he was doing something without really doing something.

Flagrant one is "unnecessary", two is also "excessive". I don't see it. I'm o.k. with the one.

Re: McDyess - Was it a flagrant 2?

I think the refs did a pretty good job of dictating that the Pistons play passive by ejecting the only player getting meaningful minutes that is also in possession of a "pair".
Dice did what every other player should have been doing throughout the series and he got penalized for it. It's BS.

I just got done watching Tayshaun cringe and run away from Lebron like a scared little girl.

The only thing that I take comfort in is knowing that if this is hard for us to watch, it has really got to be eating at Joe D. BIG TIME.

I was weaned on the bad boy Pistons so I think if you aren't getting out a folding chair or I don't see exposed bone it shouldn't even be a flagrant.

AJ would have been the perfect replacement. We wouldn't have missed a beat.

We could be talking about this until we're blue in the face. Just not happening, end of story.

Dyess cleared
The NBA will take no further action against Antonio McDyess for his flagrant-2 foul on Anderson Varejao in Game 5. He will play in Game 6 Saturday. There is still a chance that Rasheed Wallace could draw a fine for his behavior after the game. He went after referee Bennett Salvatore pretty hard before leaving the court.

Flagrant back in the day, no. Flagrant in today's NBA yes. It just really sucked, because in the long run not having Dice out there at the end really hurt us. He's lucky he didn't do that to LeBron or he would have been kicked out of the league.
