Will joe D and Bill D really match an MLE offer for a guy that the coaching staff thinks sucks?

I am really beginning to despise Flip and his henchmen. He's trying to run everyone out of town it seems. First Darko and Arroyo. Then Ben. Now Delfino. Next... Amir?

Apparently you guys haven't listened to Joe's interview where he says that the only untouchable guy on his team is Amir.

He also goes on to say that Amir would definitely be a lottery pick this year, and other teams agree with him.

Sound like a guy Joe won't match an MLE offer for?

It could be true. But it could also be a case of talking a player up that you want to trade to get more value for him, or trying to deter teams from making him an offer by giving the impression that Joe would match all comers.

If I've learned anything, it's not to trust a word that anyone in professional sports says. Especially GM's, Coaches, Agents and their soon to be Free Agent clients.

I heard it, but I guess this is more about Joe and the coaching staff than Joe and Amir. If Joe is on such a different page as the coaching staff, why does he insist on keeping them around?

Thats a good question, and I've pondered that one recently.

The thing I have to remind myself is that noone has really proven to me that Joe and the coaching staff isn't on the same page, beside McCosky, who has just bumbled salary cap 101 out the window by claiming that the Delfino trade actually created room under the cap.
This alone (like any of us should need more proof to doubt his judgement calls) will make me raise my eyebrows at anything he reports as fact.

The biggest piece of proof for this theory was the evidence that Joe wanted the bench played more, and Flip didn't respond to this decree properly.

This got blown to shreds IMO, when Joe traded Delfino for not much.
If the second to third guy off the bench isn't worth much more than 2 late second rounders to Joe, him forgiving Flip for not trusting the '06-'07 bench shouldn't be too far behind.

Good point.

I guess that means Flip AND Joe have to go.

Delfino will be starting for that team by the end of the year. He'll be an 17-19 point player in the league, easy, to go along with his solid all around play.

McCosky's judgment is one thing. But he seems to have a very good inside knowledge of the Pistons. He's usually on the money with what's going on with the team, players, management, etc. That is what making me somewhat weary of what might be going on with the team.

He said Rasheed was the likely candidate for being traded right before Joe went on the radio and reamed Terry Foster for even thinking ill of Rasheed.

With McCosky it's sometimes difficult to separate his inside info from his oft inaccurate judgement calls.

That's true. Unfortunately, there's no good source of information, so we end up jumping on whatever is being thrown out there.

Re: Raptors Blogger wants Amir Johnson

How can someone be the greatest D-League player of all time and forget plays and assignments at the same time?

It does not make any sense. Is Flips system that much more complex that you need a college degree to understand it?

Spend some extra time with the kidd and help him out. Whatever it takes.

They should make a choice right now. Either get a consencious to play him 15-20 MPG next season or look at a sign and trade scenerio. Just please do not Darko the guy.
