Re: PF.COM NBA Mock Draft

Sorry Abe. Time is up.

The first pick in the PF.com NBA Mock draft going to the Portland Trailblazers....is...ta daaa...Big surprise. Greg Oden.

Why: Come on, Sam Bowie isn't available so why not? This guy is 7 feet tall. He led OSU to the National championship game. He can score, rebound, and block shots. He gives Portland instant credibility for years to come. He's a can't lose pick and a franchise Center and Portland is thrilled to get him.

Good choice Abe, the panel knew you would have done the right thing. Hey, if you can't be around for your next pick please let us know.

***OK, next on the board is Army girl and her Supersonics. (Hey, can you take a few minutes off work protecting our lives and pick a stud for Seattle?)

Re: PF.COM NBA Mock Draft

In the interest of moving the Mock along, the Panel of Darth and Slippy have made the selection for ArmyGirl.

With the Second Pick in the PF.com NBA MOCK Draft the Seattle Supersonics select:
Kevin Durant

Why: Regarded as a possible #1 pick despite the presence of mega-hyped Oden, Durant combines skill, leadership, athleticism and upside in abundance. Seattle simply cannot pass up on him and grab their usual Center project to stash away.
Durant is a probable all-star.

Re: PF.COM NBA Mock Draft

With the 3rd Pick in the Mock Draft, the Atlanta Hawks Select...
YI Jianlian.

Why: The Hawks dodged a bullet this draft by getting the lowest possible pick and still retaining it. However, it only means that they don't have a 1st rounder in next years draft. With two picks this season, its definitely most bang for the buck.
Yi is best bang for the buck Billy Knight style. Eyebrows are raised when the Hawks make their selection and Atlanta fans heave a collective sigh as the Hawks grab ANOTHER F to be played out of position. Yi has unique skills and unique experience at the pro and olympic levels. Brandan Wright seems too limited and lanky and too much a project. Harford., they drafted him last year when his name was Shelden Williams.

Conley seems too much of a reach at #3. Can the hawks make a deal to move up and get him later in the draft? With Portland looking for another lottery, there is a possibility that a trade involving Jarrett Jack and the #11 pick would satisfy their PG needs.

Re: PF.COM NBA Mock Draft

Memphis Grizzlies....

We'll take Joakim Noah.

Memphis is Graceland. A guy named Noah is almost biblical. Plus, we need a big who has size, is scrappy and a tough competitor because Pau Gasol is a wimp.

We considered trading down for Mike Conley, but no one would pay us any cash, and we were dead set on buying owner Michael Heisley one of these...

With the 5th pick in the 2007 NBA draft, the Boston Celtics select Brandan Wright from the University of North Carolina.

- This guy is a beast. He has a long wingspan where he can reject shots all day and he is a monster at rebounding. He runs the floor well and has great hands. He looks to be a future star in the NBA.

Re: PF.COM NBA Mock Draft

I can't believe that Big Al is still available. If he is, then I am signing Mo Williams and getting a big banger who will stay on the block when Bogut drifts out for a j.

With the 6th pick, Bucks take Al Horford.

Re: PF.COM NBA Mock Draft

With the 7th pick in the 2007 nba draft the Minnesota timberwolves select Mike Conley from Ohio State.

The wolves allready have a star SG in the making in Foye and garnett at the PF. They have need for a center too but I dont see anyone availible worth the Number 7 pick here, and SF are a dime a dozen.. and should be able to find one in free agency

Re: PF.COM NBA Mock Draft

With the 8th pick the Charlotte Bobcats select:

Jeff Green from Georgetown.
6'8 - Junior

It was a difficult position to pick for the Bobcats. Their needs are at PF and SG, but its a reach to get that position right now. So they decided to go with what they thought was the best available player.

Ideally Joakim Noah would have still been available but Memphis took him very early.

Jeff can play and defend a lot of positions SG, SF, PF and his size can create mismatches.
He is unselfish and has a natural feel for the game with a high bball IQ.

My starting 5 would be:
PG - R.Felton
SG - J.Green
SF - G.Wallace
PF - W.Herrmann
C - E.Okafor

Key bench
PG - B.Knight
SG - D.Anderson
SF - A.Morrison

Re: PF.COM NBA Mock Draft

With the 9th pick the Chicago Bulls select Spencer Haywood. We believe his offensive game in the low post is NBA ready, and that he will be able to contribute immediately.

His weaknesses are strength and rebounding, and we expect Ben Wallace to mentor his development in these areas.
