I would like to see the Pistons go after Jason Kapono.

This year he shot 49% from the field including 51% on threes and 89% from the line. I have watched him play since his days as a Bruin. The guy can really stick it. For sure he is not the greatest defender in the world, and that may be an understatement, but coming off the bench he could really help our inside game on our second unit by extending the defense.

If we could get him for the MLE I think we could get a lot more for our buck than we did with Nazir, of course that shouldn't be too difficult no matter who we would sign to a MLE contract this year.

I thought he can't defend? Am I wrong with that assumption?

I think I posted that he can't play defense.

But he may be passable on defense when we zone. There are of course many other free agents, some of whom would no doubt be better for us.

But there is no one in the league that can shoot better than him from long distance. I would like to see the Pistons sign him because I think he would be a net positive plus I would like to see a Bruin playing for us, being a long time Bruin fan.

Also if he on the court with Sheed and C-Bill that would give us three pretty good 3 point shooters out there at the same time. He would make a nice backup for Prince, which we will need if we draft a big guy or a point guard.

JMax can play small forward but he has no outside shot. The 3 point play can be deadly. That is how Cleveland beat us in the playoffs this year. The games they won they shot close to 50% on threes vs under 35% on the games that we won. The Cavs also stunk it up from 3 point range vs the Spurs and that hurt the Cavs quite a bit in the series.

When they are hitting the 3 the lanes become that much more open for LeBron. The same with us. If we had another 3 point threat that would open the lanes for us too, though we don't have a LeBron.

Actually, JMax has a very serviceable 14 foot jumper.

Kapono is strictly a spot up shooter. Mo Evans with a little less athleticism and a fair bit better accuracy. Seems a little redundant on this team.

I'll take this one step further...

During pre-game warmups, JMax floats out to the three point line and knocks them down with impressive regularity. The first time I saw this I was blown away.

Watch for it.

Max hit at least one 3 in his first summer league. It kinda rolled in off the rim, but that's because he has such a soft shot.

He also hit 2 of 5 in his last year in college. I don't know how many if any of those were end of quarter heaves.

He can extend the defense, however, what`s the use of extending the defense if the Pistons don`t take advantage of it?

Correct me if I am wrong but, most of what we saw this seaon was CB, Sheed, and Tay standing at or near the 3 point arc (extending the defense) and nobody (took advantage of it) attacked the basket.

We don`t need any 3 point shooters, unless we have someone who will go to the hoop when the defense is extended!

Ben hit free throws during warm-ups too.
