Articles worth mentioning

I decided to start a thread where we could all post articles from web that deal with NBA and Pistons to avoid starting multiple threads.

Here's an article from boston.com that talks about happenings in NBA and it has a bit on Pistons as well.

This might jazz them up - The Boston Globe

Quote:
Joe Dumars isn't spending any of his free time these days watching video of Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals.
"That's called self-mutilation," he wrote by e-mail, referring to the game in which LeBron James pretty much beat Dumars's Detroit Pistons single-handedly.
It still peeves him that the Pistons let it happen. Detroit has been on a remarkable run -- five straight appearances in the conference finals -- and Dumars already has a game plan to keep it going. First order of business: re-sign Chauncey Billups. Next up, re-sign Amir Johnson. Huh? Who?

Re: Articles worth mentioning

Here's an article by Jahnke talking about Joe's list of things to do in the next 30 days.

KRISTA JAHNKE: On Dumars' to-do list: Draft well, sign the star, find a center

Quote:
Pistons president Joe Dumars won't get to spend much of his summer vacation lounging beachside or playing tennis. He has work to do. Lots of it.

Dumars has alluded several times to a lengthy handwritten list of items he wants to address in the coming months after the disappointment of losing in the conference finals for a second straight year.

Just how the Pistons will look after this summer of change is impossible to predict. But if Dumars has his way, it will be a team that's younger, hungrier and ready to compete for a championship in 2007-08. And it all depends on the next 30 days.
Give or take.

Re: Articles worth mentioning

This is from NBADraft.net:

NBADraft.net | Which Colleges Produce the Best Pros?

Quote:
With the Draft less than a week away, it's crunch time for NBA executives. Doing the proper research and evaluating can make or break a team's draft. And one draft can make or break a team's future. Because of the draft's importance, teams will consider a lot of factors before choosing a player on June 28th, one of which being the college that the player attended. Some programs are notorious for churning out NBA talent, while some big-name college teams, despite great success at the NCAA level, do not produce many good pros. Here is a look at the top NBA-talent producing colleges over the past ten drafts, and then a few more basketball factories not included in the list.

Look for funny Rip picture in the top of the article.

Here's a look at the Pistons off-season from the outside:

Off-Season Game Plan examines whether or not the Pistons are starting to slide or if they can re-load to at least compete with the best in the East.
Detroit enters the off-season with several rotation players on the wrong side of 30.

I guess he was to lazy to check out AJ's work at Sioux Falls this year. Doesn't matter he will get to see a lot of him this coming year against the Celtics and on ESPN.

An overview of draft busts:

FOX Sports on MSN - NBA - If you must, call them busts

Quote:
Whenever a guy turns out to be a draft bust, we automatically want to blame the team that picked him for not foreseeing it. But in reality, it's not always the team's fault.

Example: let's assume Kevin Durant goes No. 2 to Seattle this week. Now hypothetically fast-forward seven years: Durant is averaging 9 points a game as an injury-riddled backup, Joakim Noah has a championship ring with the Bulls, and Brandan Wright is an All-Star. How could you possibly blame the Sonics for taking KD when they did?
If they would have chosen Wright or Noah or anyone else, they would have been crucified by the media and fans. So it's not always the fault of the front office; sometimes it's just bad luck, injuries, or an uninspired ballplayer who makes them look bad. Looking back at some of the more recent memorable draft busts, it's a mix of guys whose bust status falls on their own shoulders, and others where blame falls on the team that picked them.
Of cource, HVC makes the list.

he is still way too young to be a bust.

As I'll say again, you know Drew Neitzel who somebody will probably draft next year despite the fact he's a fidgit?

Drew is older than Darko.
