I am thinking we have a similar scenario tonight as Al Thorton who was taken by the Clippers right ahead of us at 14 will prbably be as valuable as Pierce, two years from now, and knowing the Clippers he will be starting by mideason ahead of Mobley.

With Stuckey he will have to prove himself in the summer league and camp to assure that he gets those Hunter/Murray minutes as the 2nd person off the bench.

This was a done deal if Law was already gone. But who knew Thornton could have been right there too. That is why clipps passed on Criitenton by taking the bext player available.

My opinion for the 27th pick if the desired big men are gone is to see if you can trade it for some experience big man who can play now, not another project who rides the pine with Dupree, Davis etc. Maybe Nene since Denver doesn't have a pick in the first round.
This is why I am a little disappointed. We should have called up Memphis or the Clippers and tried to work a deal to get Al Thornton. When you are as old of a team as we are and it is all about winning championships atleast that's what the Pistons claim we need to go all out to stay on top a little longer even if we had to give up next years 1st round pick along with the 15th to move up to the 13th or 14th pick to make it happen.

Thumbs up Re: #15 Pick - Rodney Stuckey

Hopefully, with the 27th pick we can get SEC Player of the Year Derrick Byars to back up former SEC Player of the Year Tayshaun Prince

Re: #15 Pick

I dont dislike Stuckey, and I know I will grow to like him in time, I just personally believe it wasnt the pick we needed to make, given our current situation.

I have a real good feeling about Stuckey.

Here was a prop #48 guy who couldn't get into the Pac 10 (they don't take Prop #48 players) and he eventually wound up with a GAP of over 3.2. He is also a gym rat.

He also has a ton of talent, can handle the ball, shoot including free throws and play defense.

I think we will come to really like him and his game.

MLive.com has a page that they just put on Stuckey, including vids.

Quote:
Importantly Stuckey improved not only on the court, but also in the classroom.
June 27, NBA.com: Three years later, he's not only the two-time Big Sky MVP, he's also a two-time member of the Big Sky All-Academic team and a member of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American third team, with a GPA of 3.34. And his studies were not the only thing he worked on in Cheney.
"I was the first one in the gym and I was the [last] one out of the gym every day," Stuckey said. "Just working on my game. When you do that and you come out and perform every day to your abilities, no matter how good you are, they will find you."

In fact, Stuckey plans to head back to head back to college in the near future.
June 6, Eastern Washington Athletics:Stuckey, just a year academically away from his degree, vows to eventually return to school and finish work on his bachelor's degree. "I plan on still getting my degree. It may take me a couple of more years, but I promised my mom that I will always get my degree. It's still going to happen."
Yahoo's scouting report had this to say about Stuckey.
June 28, Yahoo.com: POSITIVES: Stuckey is a tough man to cover off the dribble. He has quickness, strength and a good first step. He has a scoring mentality and improved measurably as a free-throw shooter as a sophomore, all the way to 85 percent. Stuckey also has the ability to make the pass, but this talent was restrained because his team needed him to score, which he did. Unlike most rookies, he won't be a liability on defense, where he has a stout work ethic and good hands for steals.
The same scouting report suggests he could turn out to be as good as Mitch Richmond and on the relative downside, similar to Jamal Crawford.
