They didn't call Michael Curry "the Teacher" for nothing...

Oh wait a minute... that was Dantley!

We're screwed!

Re: Detroit Pistons Summer League Tracker

When taken onto consideration that Jason Smith was the #19 pick in this draft, Cheikh Samb looked pretty good out there.

Even better to think that the bulk of his contribution came in the first half.

Probably got winded by the time the second half rolled around.

Lets hope he doesn't smoke two packs a day or anything.

Re: Detroit Pistons Summer League Tracker

Arron Afflalo started off the game looking terrible both on offense and defense but as the game kept going IMO- Afflalo really turned it on. He got to the rim and finished with contact, hit a few outside shots and played quality defense. Hope to see him playing better in the next game.

Stuckey- At times he really impressed me, he made some great passes. I remember him throwing the ball away 2 times and getting stripped towards the end of OT. Id like to see him cut down on the turnovers next game.

Mejia- looked really impressive, drained the game winning three with .4 on the clock. Started at the SF, so maybe he could be Tays backup if he doesnt go overseas.

Cheik- He is still really raw, but he had some nice putbacks and got some good rebounds

Maxiel was a beast as always.

nba.com archives games so if you missed it, it should be available soon. It was interesting to see how Maxiell dominated, thats what it looks like when a man plays among boys.

The Low wasn't too impressed by the game, but he has a very special treat you won't find anywhere else to present later today (Sunday).

I need to sleep.

There are only two treats in sports that I am looking for today.

1. A win by Mr. Robertson against the BoSox. Every time one of my beloved Detroit teams beats one of those teams from Boston not only do we get a win but we get to stick it to ESPN. A double decker Oreo treat.

2. A top five finish by Danica at gorgeous Watkins Glenn. She is currently ranked #8 on the IRL circuit this year.

But I will look forward to Low's treat, so bring it on or has it already been brought the form of his report on yesterday's game. Thank you Low.

Re: Detroit Pistons Summer League Tracker

Nice win for the Pistons against the Grizz today. Stuckey was the star, with 27 points on 9-16 from the floor, 9-9 from the line. Pistons built a double-digit lead in the first half, lost it by halftime, went behind with a bad 3rd quarter, but played well right from the start in the 4th. They almost gave away a 7 point lead in the last minute, but held on for a 2 point win.

Afflalo did a few good things but missed most of his shots. Mejia didn't do much on offense but played some good D on Rudy Gay. Samb had a nice first half, with a couple of sweet looks to JMax for huge dunks; I didn't know Samb had any passing ability. Although he looked rough in the post in the second half: this sideways one-handed hook shot he goes to is pretty brutal.

Stuckey gave us a good look at what Joe must have liked so much about him from game tapes and scouting reports. His jumper seems shaky, but he's a true scorer going to the hole. He can put his head down, get into the lane, and create something or get to the line. In a league which clearly favors guys like that now, where frickin' Boobie Gibson can get to the line a million times in the conference finals, the refs had damn well better be showing some respect to Stuckey, who looks a lot more talented to me. He took Conley into the lane a couple of times today, using his size advantage to create a good shot. It looks like he'll give the Pistons a nice offensive boost off the bench this coming season.
