It will be pandemonium!
Hot Rod will still control the ball when the Pistons are on offense

Just another example of Maxiell's Piston DNA. He didn't need to be there, but volunteered. Also, he is approaching these games in a very aggressive manner, which sets a great example for the new guys.

If we resign CWebb, this could be a great year. Same amazing starting 5 with twice the bench. Dyess, Stuckey, Afflalo, JMax, and Amir??? That is a stand alone line-up.
Maybe the first one, but in the second game without JMax, Hot Rod would have gone for 35 plus and we would still have won.

Hot Rod waltzed through about 2 1/2 quarters. Played the off guard for about half or more of that when Walker Russell was running the point. The Pistons offense was no where to be found.

Hot then turned it up about half way through the third quarter and got a lot more aggressive. This opened up the whole offense especially JMax and somewhat Afflalo.

Hot Rod is one heck of a player. He is definitely like Wade in that both of them can take it to the rack almost at will and if they don't score get to the line and convert.

Its great to see that both Hot Rod and AA can hit their free throws, just like C-Bill and Rip. Nice to also see JMax improving his free throw shooting.

P.S. Nice game by Nick Young. I think he and AA thought it was Pac10 days.

Re: Detroit Pistons Summer League Tracker

It was good to see the D in the 4th quarter. They made the plays when it mattered and imposed their will on the game. I really begin to like the Afflalo-Stuckey-Maxiell trio with a bit of Mejia sprinkled in there. They all woke up in the 4th after sleepwalking for the 30 minutes and finished the game on the 33-9 run. Stuckey got more people involved in the end when the Pistons built a lead. When they were behind he preferred to create on his own for the most part. Samb played some good D, but did nothing on the offensive end. I don't know if Pistons will keep him in the States. Young looked like show off getting the points easily through the 1st 3 quarters, but was nowhere to be found in the 4th when Pistons D toughened up.

Throw in AJ instead of Mejia and you can get some idea of what this second unit could look like by the second half of the year.

Re: Detroit Pistons Summer League Tracker

84-70 Pistons win 3rd straight.

Hopefully a live game report forthcoming from The Low will provide some good video highlights and a more indepth individual coverage of your future Piston stars.
From what I observed on NBA TV, both teams started out sluggish with the Pistons only scoring 25 pts in the first half shooting a paltry 30%. The Wizards were no better shooting 34% themselves and scoring 27 pts. Stuckey had only 2 points at the half on 1-3 shooting.

The Wiz picked up the pace in the 3rd qtr outscoring the Pistons 30 to 24 as their first round pick Nick Young put on a series of show-boating dunks and Mike Hall hit a three ball. Meanwhile Stuckey started to heat up and Afflolo continue to hit all of his FT.

The fourth qtr was the money period for the Pistons as they outscored the Wizards 35-13 with Stuckey attacking the rim and JMax continuing to dominate the inside with a series of slam dunks. Highlights include a nice drop off past to a trailing Brahma by Stuckey on a fast break, a nice behid the back pass to JMAX by Sammy Mejia for a slam and a nice slash move to the hoop by Aflollo to show off his penetration skills. Like Roscoe said in chat, they looked lazy out there in the first 3 qtrs, but decided to turn it on in the 4th with some excellent D juts like their big brothers on the Pistons "A" team.

The final talley scoring wise was Alflolo 21 with 15-17 from the FT line, Max with 21, and Stuckey with 17 points. Sammy was tied for team lead in rebounds with 8, but had a terrible shooting day. Still think Joe should think about keeping him on the squad and sending him to the D league for seasoning with Samb.

Re: Detroit Pistons Summer League Tracker

What is interesting is that when these young cats turn it on they look to be heads above the competition (at least in the 2 games I watched). I just don't like the "switch" mentality. They practically sleepwalked through the 1st 3 quarters.

no thats to much like the vets.... and once there the ones coming off the bench it better not be shown. or i will be happy with a quick hook.

though to give them a built in excuse there playing a game/scrimage almost every day for games that don't mean anything (besides making the team)

That switch mentality is also the "Twitch" mentality. I think Flip will be fine with it.
