Only about 1/2 of the teams out there have a 5 that is really a 5. Sheed's fatigue and foul trouble during the reg season should not be as much of an issue if we are actually using our bench.

agreed... sheed would still play the 4 on offense (which is where he wants to be) and max more inside as a true post player... have davis off the bench to bang with the big centers and trade flip and nazr for another vetern big that can bang and give spot mins if we decide that chris isn't in the future for the next year.

I believe Joe has problems trading Nazr and Flip. Nobody is going to give up anything worthwhile for those two guys.

I will agree with you on that. There are very few good 7 footers in the league.

Shaq, Ilguaskas, Yao are names that come into my mind right now.

Yao is not a problem for the Pistons unless Houston makes it to the Finals. Duncan is a bigger challenge than Yao though.

Ilgauskas is weak and slow. Even though Sheed is 4-5 inches shorter he would dominate Ilgauskas.

Shaq is getting older. He is a big game changer, but he is not as great as he used to be.

If the Pistons use everybody this year for once maybe their will be a change in outcome for the playoffs. The Pistons need some better leadership in their than Flip though if they want to win it all...

Sheed always played Duncan tough. Duncan had issues when Sheed was guarding him. Ilgauskas got a gazillion offensive boards in the playoffs and Pistons couldn't keep him out of the paint. Shaq is big enough to just barge through to the basket and dunk it. He'll just push whoever is guarding him under the basket. The big centers are the ones that would give us trouble.

Re: Jason Maxiell 3rd Year

Shaq is the reason we started stock piling Centers 2/3 years ago. We had a lot of guys who were each good for several fouls to decrease shaq's effectiveness (plus Big Ben). I think with Shaq's decline we shouldn't worry too much about his type of Center...

The problem playing Shaq is not his speed or skills. The problem for Pistons was always his strength. He would just bully his way into the paint and lay the ball in. And if we doulbe team him, he's a good passer to find open shooters.

Re: Jason Maxiell 3rd Year

That is the key, Sheed CAN guard most 5's. It just wears him down.

Everyone but Shaq... and Shaq is wearing himself down.

We just have no answer when the Grizzlies exploit us down low.

Re: Jason Maxiell 3rd Year

I dont think Shaq is a big threat in the post season right now, i think if somehow the Heat pick up Mo Williams, which Riley is lobbying hard for, then our absence at center becomes a lot more scary.

lol. The Grizzlies might exploit us down low in Memphis, but we all know that the Pistons give their bigs NIGHTMARES in Detroit.
