Thinking back, I'm not even sure why I chose this nickname. I do like Laimbeer, though. He's probably in my Fave Five.

Re: Name your all time favorite piston

For me 1 Zeke all the way, NO ONE is even close.
2 Chauncey aka Big shot is second
3 Joe D the silent assassin at third
4 "arguably" the best defensive player of all time "Big Ben" Wallace
5 "the worm" and one of greatest rebounders ever Dennis Rodman, rounding out the list.

I would modify that statement. Arguably the best Piston defensive player of all time, Ben Wallace. (Though Rodman comes darn close if not better).

But you may want to got back and look at films of Bill Russell and even Nate Thurmond.

As good as Ben Wallace was on defense he was not even close to them.

Thurmond was a Monster defender................good choice..........Only thing I remember about Bill Russell is he made the shot (20 footer)while sitting at a desk in a business suit while filming the commercial..........He was actually supposed to miss the shot.

My bad I forgot about Hakeem, who also was also a better defender than Big Ben.

Here is some info on Russell

Quote:
Teams: Boston Celtics (1956-1969)

Titles: 11 (1957, 1959-66, 1968-69)

Honors: 12-time All-Star, 5-time MVP (1958, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1965), Hall of Fame

The player: The greatest champion in basketball history. Russell was the perfect teammate, with a mean streak and a hunger to win.

His 11 rings say it all.

A spidery defender, great rebounder and fastbreak igniter, Russell was everything the Celtics needed from 1957 through 1969. His shot-blocking skills changed basketball.

"He brought a new sound to basketball," Red Auerbach once said, "the sound of his footsteps."

2. The Worm
3. The Prince
4. The Microwave
5. Lambs (5a. Rick Mahorn)
