Re: Bring Back Webber?

I would bring him back and make him captain of the bench brigade. Tell him that the team needs him to lead the youthful unit and be the focal point in the high post. Also, the team needs him to save his energy for the post season and being a starter for 82 games is not necessary.

If Joe spins it right, Chris could maybe come around to the idea. Instead of sharing the assists with CB, he can be the point-center for the 2nd unit.

Re: Bring Back Webber?

That is strange indeed. As if him coming back is a done deal.

Re: Bring Back Webber?

As far as this forum is concerned it looks like C-Webb has won an overwhelming endorsement. It's a mandate to continue the work he started with the Pistons last year.

Re: Bring Back Webber?

So, after reading the latest article on Pistons.com, they insinuate that we will put Mejia and Samb on the roster. So, if that happens, we will have ZERO open spots on the roster.

Depth Chart:

1) Billups/ Stuckey/ Hunter
2) Hamilton/ Afflalo/ Murray
3) Prince/ Mejia/ Dupree
4) Wallace/ Maxiell/ McDyess
5) Mohammed/ Johnson/ Samb

Mohammed and Murray will not be easy to move, so this all makes me wonder whether or not this means Hunter is done.

If Hunter leaves (retires, or is bought out), then the 15th spot will be there for CWebb.

So, to my dissapointment, Acker seems to be a longshot. What do we do if he accepts the offer out there?

Re: Bring Back Webber?

I have gotten the impression through the summer that if it was up to Webber he would return. Dumars might not want him back though. Cwebb blowing up at Flip may have done him in here. Sheed can get away with it but not Webb.

Re: Bring Back Webber?

If Webber is in the mix, you gotta read between the lines on this one.

Who goes? Sounds like we are filling the backend of our roster with youth.

Candidates include

Murray
Dupree
McDyess (too many PFs and the extension mentioned earlier hasn't materialized yet)

Re: Bring Back Webber?

If Webber wanted to sign a cheap contract and ride the pine he could be valuable insurance, but if he wants to play I think he should do it somewhere else.

Re: Bring Back Webber?

So Webber did a radio interview with one of the local sports radio shows in Vegas last week.

They asked him if there was a game, any game, with a team down by 1, who would Chris want to take the last shot. He obviously said himself first. He followed that quickly by "or Chauncey, Rip, Sheed or Tay"

He's putting out all the vibes in the world to show that he wants to be here. I think the only question is if Joe thinks Webb should be in the plans or not.
