Re: Sammy Mejia - Detroit Piston Tracker

Saw a bit of a few games - liked Mejia also. It occurs to me, however, that I don't remember watching him on the defensive end. Any comments from you guys that may have watched him more thoroughly?

His game dosen't resemble Dupree - more like Prince or even Steve Smith. I will admit, however, that his impact on a game may resemble Dupree's - very little and from the pine.

I like that he's comfortable handling the ball, he's comfortable taking an open jumper, he's comfortable getting the ball in the basket in traffic, he rebounds, passes. I'll ask again, though, can he defend an NBA player?

That can only be answered during the NBA game. Maybe he'll get an extended look in pre-season.

I have studied film on Mejia extensively from the two televised summer league games. Without getting into the details too much, I will say this. His impact on the games is continuous and positive.

If that's the case, than he would earn the spot on the team.

Fresh off the press, he just did. And the more I study the film, the more glad I am of that. Hey, at first glance, it does not look like he is doing all that much. Trust me, he is doing a lot.

Re: Sammy Mejia - Detroit Piston Tracker

in chat I said I like Mejia's game and some people pointed out he didn't do anything but when the game was over Gay shot a horrendous % and i felt good that the guy wasresponible for swinging that ball around or chasing a loose ball or otherwise being involved (not necessarily getting an assist) in a score. I dunno if he'll play outside of GT or even the d-league as some of the reports on his weaknesses kinda showed up in summerleague but with some development, he could be decent.

I guess it depends on who is doing the first glance.

Here is a very insightful young person.
