McDyess

After reading many posts describing the new players and offseason in general, as well as my personal take it seems that McDyess has become the forgotten one. Many times I have read potential lineups and squads and bench stuff and have seen that people have completely forgotten to even mention McDyess as part of the team. So here is my question: Is Mcdyess done in Detroit and just becoming a situational player? Will he lose his minutes to Amir / Max, and if so when?

Personally, I have soured on Dyess these last few months, but he has been the leading sixth man for a championship team the last couple seasons and has produced. I defintily see Flip bringing him off the bench as the first big for awhile until another player pushes him out. That is to say if Flip is capable of playing a guy over Dyess if they are better.

So heres a question. What kind of impact do you see Dyess having this yeay. My prediction is he becomes a 7/8 man off bench eventually, but still has a few games where he will have like 30 minutes because he is playing well.

Re: McDyess

If he starts slowly again, I could see losing minutes to our younger players. I was a little disappointed with his play in the playoffs, but I still consider him a valuable asset off the bench.

Re: McDyess

Competition for minutes off the bench will start early and often as Flip hands them out like candy......................Dice will have his chance.

Re: McDyess

I have a feeling that Dyess will be our starting center this year.

BINGO!!!! BINGO!!!! BINGO!!!!

This is why I am not pressed about the center position, for two seasons we have seen lineups where Dyess and Sheed play together for very long stints and are very effective together, why folks all of a sudden think that they can't do what they've been doing is beyond me. I could very well see a lineup where Dyess starts and Nazr is insurance. But Flip or Lindsey (not both) need to go in order to free up a roster spot.

Re: McDyess

I have a feeling that McDyess will have exactly the same role as last year. Except he'd be more of a mentor now.

I agree. My guess is that Flip is going to be traded for a second round pick.

Re: McDyess

His slow start and early checkout bothers me. I don't like the Dyess that has to overwork the boards and go for every shot block attempt to make up for each additional bricked shot. I really hope he isn't putting it on cruise control again this summer. If not starting then he is certainly be expected to be the leader off of the pine. Instead of showing the rooks how to have character when thing aren't working out, be the guy to demonstrate GOING TO WORK.

Re: McDyess

Hard to say. I cannot honesly predict what will happen with Dyess this season.

I would like to keep him as long as he is not automatically the 1st guy off the bench all the time.

One thing. If he starts off as slow as he did last season then he may never find his way back in the rotation.
