At the moment, Joe dosen't believe there is a better coach available. And he's not going to make a change just for change sake. He's already said as much regarding the roster.
For the record

Flip has coached 10 complete seasons in the NBA

Every year he has coached his team to the playoffs. A perfect 100%

How many other coaches in the NBA who have coached 10 or more complete seasons can make that claim?

Smile Flip vs Other NBA Coaches - Playoff Record

Listed below are active NBA coaches, playoff record over the last 3 years that they have coached their team to a playoff appearance.

Not only has Flip led his team into the playoffs every year that he coached a complete season 10 for 10

But of all active NBA coaches who have coached in the playoffs at least 3 years.

Flip has the second best coaching record over each coach's last 3 playoff appearances.

Only Pop has done better. Yes I would love to have Pop coach the Pistons, but it ain't going to happen. So we are just going to have to settle for the second best NBA coach right now.

G. Popovich 39 - 17
F. Saunders 30 - 22
M. D'Antonio 25- 21
M. Dunleavy 17 - 14
P. Riley 16 - 14
A. Johnson 22 -20
P. Jackson 17 - 17
S. Skiles 10-12
D. Nelson 16 - 20
J. Sloan 11 - 15
D. Rivers 7 -11
L. Frank 11 - 16
Zeke 5 - 10
G. Karl 3 - 12

Byron Scott and Mike Brown are pretty impressive for coaches with 2 years in the playoffs. I guess they need 1 more season to be on Flip's level.

You forgot Rick Adelman btw.

Don't get too carried away friend. Jumping from 2nd best record, to 2nd best coach, is quite a jump indeed. Take Skiles for instance. His team just this year got to the respectability level such that anyone thought his team had a chance in the playoffs. Flip Saunders came onto a team that was just fresh from two finals appearances, and he has not gotten us back there. And this is despite the fact that he was handed a team most certainly capable of getting back to the finals. We were pushing for 70 wins when any decent coach would have been pushing for being ready for the playoffs. Coach Saunders, in my opinion, is one of the two worst coaches in the league, with only Karl being worse. Regardless of recent playoff records.

So I guess you are blaming Joe D. for our failure to get to the finals these last two years, since according to your position any coach could have gotten us there except for Flip and Joe hired Flip and he could have hired one of your preferred coaches instead.

So I guess you are also saying that any other of the current active coaches in the NBA except for maybe G. Karl could have

gotten the Timbervolves into the playoffs 8 years in a row.

Okay, if you say so!!

Re: Flip vs Other NBA Coaches - Playoff Record

Rick Carlisle can take almost any team to the playoffs.
