Marcus Camby trade scenarios

Here are a bunch of articles regarding Camby and his situation with Denver, and potential scenarios (Pistons and otherwise) to get him...

Pre-draft, Atlanta speculation:
The Denver Post - Hawking for a Camby trade

Trade value:
Point-Counterpoint: Camby: Trade him or keep him? : Top Stories : Boulder Daily Camera

Very complete article:

Kwame Brown for Camby:
LAKERS4LIFE: Marcus Camby for Kwame Brown?

So it looks like Denver is in need of SG depth (scoring and defense-they prefer size), and want to trade old Camby for a young talent. They see K-Mart as a 6th man. I think the draft pick thing might work, also we have a trade exception for the Delfino trade, could that be utilized? Perhaps Dupree can be considered also...

I would give them Murray and Dupree for Camby in a heartbeat...if they just need a biggie for backup, give them Nazr too. if Joe can make this deal, he would be the summer genius...

Re: Marcus Camby trade scenarios

Would Denver go for this? That's the big question here. What if they ask for Stuckey?

Re: Marcus Camby trade scenarios

I think we have to realize is that Camby, while not a bona fide superstar, is a very good player. And it would be silly to think that they'd give him up for a bunch of scrubs. I am not sure even if the Pistons 1st round draft pick would be of any interest since it is going to be closer to the bottom.

Re: Marcus Camby trade scenarios

we really can't afford a decent trade...i mean we'll have to exploit some problem on another team or a buyout. We can't give up stuckey or amir in any way for camby. As AG said, he's old (older 'n dirt!) and brittle. We are basically looking for a windfall.

If we could get him for Flip, Nazr, maybe Lindsey, and the 1st rounder I say do it. I agree, however, that Stuckey and AJ are untouchable in this case.

Just what we need more work for Arnie.

Camby will be 34 next March and only twice in his career has played in more than 66 games in a year.

We want to get younger, not older!!!

Two thumbs down on this one.

Re: Marcus Camby trade scenarios

Lets just say this, Marcus Camby is not the top big man on the trade block right now. JO is, the Lakers and Nets are making runs at him. I dont see many teams, if any, giving up a promising young big for a 33 year old Camby. I can see the Lakers doing it to calm Kobe, but even that is a long shot. As time wears on, the Nuggets will have a clearer picture of Camby's value and the looming lux tax windfall coming around the corner. Rem the Nuggets are not just doing this to get younger and better, they're also doing it to save money. Here are some of the ifs i think must be considered:

IF the Pistons' youth step up

IF Nazr increases his trade value early in the season

IF Denver is humbled by trade interest in Camby

IF All parties stay healthy

IF K-Mart improves the Nuggets acceptably

Then, i can see this trade going thru

If, and it is only if, Camby does come to Pistons, his minutes could be limited to about 25-30. We also do have Arnie. I think Camby could play in more games than he usually did.
