Smile Will AJ Lead The NBA In Rebounding and Shot Blocking This Year?

AJ averaged more rebounds per 40 minutes last year with us in his 8 games 11.9 than Big Ben did in his first year in the league of only 11.8 rebounds per 40 minutes. This last year Garnett led the league in rebounding and averaged 13 rebounds per 40 minutes.

As I pointed out in my post on the other thread we can expect AJ's rebounding numbers per 40 minutes to improve over the next half a dozen years or so. KG, Big Ben and Rodman all improved substantially in that stat from their rookie year. In fact it wasn't until Rodman's fifth year in the league that he averaged over 10 rebounds per 40 minutes, finally peaking in his sixth year at 18.7 rebounds per 40 minutes

In fact AJ averaged more rebounds per 40 minutes last year with us than Rodman did with in any of his first four years with us.

AJ also averaged over 4.3 blocks per 40 minutes with us which was higher than Camby who averaged 3.9 rebounds per 40 minutes in winning the block shots title last year.

I think that AJ could lead the league in rebounding and blocked shots per game, maybe not this coming year but in the not too distant future.

I'd take that. If this could come to the fruition this team should be good for the years to come.

Gotta play about 40 minutes per game...............
Gotta stay in the game for about 40 minutes.............
Gotta not foul out before about 40 minutes............
Gotta have endurance to stick around for about 40 minutes..............

No doubt you are right about that.

Like I have been saying. The key to his success this year and in the future will revolve almost entirely around his defensive improvement. He needs to improve his defense in order to get in and stay in the game. His offense is already good enough to get him solid minutes.

I think that most of problems he has experienced on the defensive end have been due to the fact that he has never learned how to play proper defense, because he certainly has the athleticism to do it.

I believe that his improvement in defense will come with time, if AJ puts in the effort to improve in that area of his game. Initially this year Flip may use the zone defense a lot when AJ is in, which should cut down on his fouls and allow him to play more minutes. Of course he will get the rookie treatment from the officials.

As his defense improve, which it hopefully will, his minutes will go up. This I believe was the case with JMax.

Re: Will AJ Lead The NBA In Rebounding and Shot Blocking This Year?

AJ is known for being a gym rat. I would bank on his more than marginal improvement on defense. I agree, however, that how much of an improvement he can achieve will have direct impact on his minutes. Hopefully it is more rather than less.

You're being silly again. I will be happy to see him play a solid ten mpg.
