Nazr, a new double-double leader. Move over Tim Duncan.

I think he could surely win it. It seems like the winner is often a good player who finally gets consistent minutes the year they win. If all goes according to JoeD's plans, he should be getting the minutes, so he just needs to bring the energy he had in the VSL, and open up a can on the NBA!!!!! WOOOHOOOO

Honestly, I'd rather see Amir win that award. In my mind his ceiling is a lot higher than J-Max's.

Amir won't get enough minutes. Unfortunately. He'll have to win it the following season.

Extremely doubtful. Not because he could not have a break-out season, but the usual coincides with those that fill a void and dominate through obviousness. Marginal teams that show more dynamic movement have everyone's love. There will be no such dramatic improvement as the teams now stands, especially in respect toward minutes played.

I suspect that JMax will have subtle, but huge repercussions (to those that study these things...like this forum) and I will be more than happy to settle for tacit improvements. Nothing like having the strength of advancing incrementalism. This is how you develop the evolutionary strength of the system.

It depends on the speed of the evolution and whether it mutates into a complete revolution or just creeps along as the same old same old even with tacit improvements.

Give me the genetic mutation to glorious galactic wonderment anytime.

Actually, I never liked this award given to me because it meant I was terrible the previous year.

A lot of times, it is a reflection on the coach. Either they did an amazing job in development, or they missed the boat on recognizing the guy's talent the previous year.

And most times, it's the coach who missed the boat. Just checked Basketball Reference, and it looks like most MIPs have either been Sophomores coming into their primes, or older players in the 2nd year of a new team.

Sophomores have been Monta Ellis, Gilbert Arenas, and Zach Randolph (as a Junior).

Everyone else one it the year or year after that had been traded: TMac, Jermaine Oneal, Bobby Simmons, and Boris Diaw. Which confirms to me that certain teams/coaches really do hold players back.

As for JMax, if history follows, unless he gets a new coach or team, to play him differently, I don't see it. Amir on the other hand, is still improving, and could do it.

Nope, I think Nazr will win it this year.
