The NBA announced Tuesday that the Pistons will open their eight-game preseason Oct. 8 at home against the Miami Heat.

They also have home games at the Palace against the Utah Jazz (Oct. 12), the Denver Nuggets (Oct. 14) and the Washington Wizards (Oct. 24).

For the fifth year, the Pistons will travel to Grand Rapids for the Meijer Basketball Classic at Van Andel Arena, where they'll play the Nuggets again on Oct. 17. But if there’s an exhibition highlight, it's the Eastern Conference finals rematch at Cleveland on Oct. 11.

The Pistons also travel to Dallas on Oct. 19 and to San Antonio on Oct. 20. The Mavericks were the regular-season front-runners last year, but the Spurs won the NBA championship.

My bad, I don't think they are publishing the Pistons pre-season schedule 1,000 years from now.

Man, my son is due when they are playing in GR and I was really hoping to catch that game.

Guess the baby and I will have a date with George, Special K, and the home theater.

VA is awesome for hoops, it's about the size of the palace if you cut out the entire 200's. Seems smaller than the Breslin center even.

It kinda bothers me how sci-fi usually misses out on the aesthetics of the future. For example, Terminator. Thousands of years from now, it wouldn't be called T-1000 or T-X.

It would be Terminoogle or YouTerminator.

Think about a man from England in the year 1,000 AD reading a perfectly written science fiction piece set in the year 2,000. He would be speaking some dialect of middle English. Even if he could read the modern English language, it would be completely non-sensical to him. The stock market bubble. Yahoo. The Monica Lewinsky thing. Even electricity, cars, coke.

Similarly, we can't handle the future.

By that time AJ will have piled 200,000 Career points and 100,000 Career Rebounds, but there will still be the question of whether he should start or not because of lack of experience!!! LOL
