Alright interview with Flip this afternoon. Some key points:

Rasheed Wallace - Had the least amount of technicals last season than he has gotten in a very, very long time, I think since his rookie and sophmore seasons in the NBA. John Thompson really got a good chuckle out of this comment...By the way JT considers Rasheed one of the biggest whiners in the NBA, don't think he likes him very much

On Ben Wallace leaving - Flip Saunders stated that our rebounding never missed a beat and we were one of the top teams last season in rebounding.

Chauncey Billups & Prince - These guys will have a very good season this year.

On Chris Webber - Made a strong contribution to the team last season, Flip talked about Webber in the past tense, his comments really makes me think that Webber won't be back this year.

A lot of small talk about the referee situation; his comments were that he tend to group all referees together as one family so to speak. Hard to decipher exactly what he meant by these comments.

I missed the first couple of minutes of the interview, and was not able to go back to 980's podcast to listen to it.

Nazr never missed a beat either...in fact he flatlined the moment he took the court.

Here I was following closely your most recent postings and you go off on this considerable lost tangent.

Looking over the stats i think we last were in the black in 04-05. we had +4 rebounds. The following year we were in the red. We didn't miss a beat because we had already lost ground before Ben left.

The danger here is quoting what another person said another person said. However, if Saunders claims that we are one of the top rebounding teams that is false.

Pistons rank 18 out of 30 and let up .66 rebounds to their opponents. We're not a horrible rebounding team but we are not that great either. We give up more rebounds and more offensive rebounds. What we do well is win the turn over categories and the fg%'s.

I get annoyed mightily when Saunders dismisses Ben.

He just doesn't get it.

Statistics wise he is correct, but the mentality of defense is starting to stop.

I think we already figured out that statistics only mean so much. Flip needs to look at the tapes of all the putbacks that Cavs had. If we get the boards, Ilgauskas is not a factor (he mostly hurt us on the offensive putbacks), and we're likely playing SA for the title.
