FOX Sports on MSN - NBA - Durant headlines preseason all-rookie team
Quote:

Rodney Stuckey, Pistons — With a Pistons backcourt already consisting of All-Stars Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton, Stuckey isn't going to start anytime soon, but he'll get plenty of playing time since Chauncey and Rip aren't getting any younger. Flip Saunders can utilize Stuckey, who can play both guard spots, off the bench like he's done with Jason Maxiell.

Re: rodney stuckey

Some interesting rookies not included.

Baby Shaq
Nick Young

My now 2nd favorite Laker

Javaris - An immense talent who will greatly benefit by playing with Kobe.

Corey Brewer, Timberwolves — General consensus says the Wolves will be the worst team in the League,
He must drinking the cool aid. The Clippers without Livingston and Brand and Cassell ready for the rocking chair will definitely be worse than the T-Wolves.

Then their is Portland without Oden and Randolph gone.

There are probably a few others that the T-Wolves will be better than.

That writer (It is probably Stein, because the article is from Dime Magazine) has to stay off the cool aid.

Stuckey the next Baron Davis?
MLive.com: Everything Michigan

Quote:
Billups agreed that Stuckey's build is very similar to Davis when he was younger. And while cautioning that it's too early to make any final judgements about Stuckey, Billups added, "his game will probably be more Baron-like than Dwyane. But it's early."
Wade. Davis. It really doesn't matter. If Stuckey can play at a level even close to either one of those players, the Pistons will have the biggest steal in what was considered one of the NBA's deeper drafts.

I think Hot Rod is a better field goal and free throw shooter than Davis and will also get to the line a lot more frequently than Davis.

I don't see very much similarity in their games.

Hot Rod's game is a lot closer to DW's than it is to Davis'

I haven't seen much of Stuckey, so I will rely on your views. All I know about him so far is what I'm reading in media.

One day into camp, Chauncey Billups likes what he sees from the rookie No. 1 draft picks at guard, Rodney Stuckey and Arron Afflalo.
“He’s going to be good,” Billups said of Stuckey. “He’s going to be really good. I think he’s going to win us some games this year. He’s a basketball player. He knows how to score. Really strong. Finishes really well, something we really needed. Attacks the basket and challenges people. Arron as well. He’s impressive, real aggressive, competes really hard. I’m impressed.”

Flip Murray has been one of the early stars. He is some 15 to 20 pounds lighter and was a dominant force on Tuesday night. For whatever reason, Murray never got into proper shape last year. He's in a contract drive now, and looks lean and mean -- funny how that happens. If he maintains this pace, he will cause a pleasant problem for Saunders. The initial plan was for rookie Rodney Stuckey to be the first guard off the bench, be it for Chauncey Billups or Rip Hamilton. Murray was slated to be the fourth guard, playing mostly in mop up or emergency situations. But understand this about Saunders, he is a Flip Murray fan. He loves his ability to create his own offense and he stood by Murray last year far longer than the rest of the organization (and media) did. Saunders is an old-school guy. He's not just going to award minutes to Stuckey and fellow rookie Arron Afflalo. They are going to have to earn them.
Here we go again. I wish Joe would bring in a few head coaches and make them earn the spot.

Re: rodney stuckey

I wouldn't mind Stuckey behind Murray for a few weeks while he establishes his value...to another team. IT would help Flip and us.

Re: rodney stuckey

I'm actually not that anti Flip (Murray that is). And I wholehartedly agree that the Pistons should say some nice things about a player if they are going to trade him.

If he's really made improvements, then he can either help us on the court or help us with his improved trade value. Either way, this could be good news.

I think it just sets the team back playing guys who can't play the game. Its tiresome to try to cover for someone who does not know his defensive rotations, and can't stay in front of anyone. And its tiresome to run down the court on offense knowing that someone running with you is going to blow the whole play by bad decisions. Get Murray off the team. We ain't going to fool anyone by good press. Meanwhile, we have young players who actually need the time on the court to get into the NBA rhythm.
