| Next Season moves Next season there will be lots of FAs on the market, not to mention the possibility of our own Rip possibly opting out of his own contract. We'll have Sheed as an expiring contract, should we pursue any marquee names? Through sign and trade or other ways... | Re: Next Season moves According to espn.com's list, Rip is not going to be a free agent. (granted, it has not been updated to say McDyess has been issued an extension, but still it does not say Rip can opt out) Also, according to hoopshype, he cannot opt out, either. HoopsHype - NBA Salaries - Detroit Pistons Only hoopsworld says he can opt out. What's the deal? Last edited by robvariety : 09-02-2007 at 07:23 PM. |

As for matching other teams, if we do a sign and trade with Sheed's expiring contract most teams want something back if they're losing good players like these... (this is dependant on confidence in supplementing Sheed with Amir/Maxy/Dyess AND believing we will not try to bring Sheed back) I think these guys are upper middle of the pack FAs. With the Lakers not trading Kobe and Agent 0 already saying he'll opt out of his contract, plus JO making some noise, in addition to Tim Duncan, i think theres a clear first tier of FAs developing for next year, and the guys that we should go after should be just below them. |
