| Re: The 5th starter...who should it be? just kind of wonderin about SAMB...is he even going to be on the active roster or is he just going to the D-league? if he has a good camp does anyone else here think he could possibly start or even come off the bench to relieve whoever the starter is? I havent seen to much info on this guy. Love, Peace, and Chicken grease. |

| Re: The 5th starter...who should it be? Samb will spend the vast majority of the year in the D League. It is the best thing for his development to get regular minutes and he will absolutely not get them in the NBA this season. He'll get a couple cups of coffee when we want to rest some guys, but that's about it. |

| Since this is from an article in June of this year, I would think that it probably has already been posted here, but maybe not. This is kind of interesting, remembering that Cheikh has played hoops for only 5 years. Quote:

Second question is what exactly do you think Samb needs before he can play a little in the NBA. (Size, toughness, shooting touch, defensive experience, everything?) And which of these can he get in the D-League that he can't get playing a few minutes here and there for the Pistons |

| Re: The 5th starter...who should it be? It's tough for me to admit, and I've been in denial a long time, but I have no decision making authority over the Pistons, so if my mind is made up is completely irrelevant to training camp. Is it technically possible that Samb is just so good during training camp that he forces his way onto the roster and the rotation? Yes, technically, but it's like a 5% chance or something. It would be a shocking development. I tend to think of things that have almost no chance of happening as things that aren't likely to happen. Weird, huh? The Pistons have stated that Samb is likely to spend most of the season in the D league as he certainly could use some time to adjust to America, gain weight, get regular playing time, get more experience playing organized basketball (as he started late), and get acclimated to the NBA style of basketball along with a billion other things. He's in the future and not the now. Amir and Max are the young bigs we'll be working in this year. Samb will get his chance next year. |
