I think Afflalo will be getting the DNP-CDs and Meija will be in the NBDL. These 2 will not be in the rotation.

Not much to argue about- 3 minutes at backup small forward.

AA will get more minutes per game than most people think he will.

The reasons are.

1. He can play defense
2. He can play defense
3. He hustles his sneakers off.
4. He is a coach's player, whether the coach is Saunders or someone else.
5. He can finish at the rim.
6. His outside shooting will continually improve and be more than adequate.
7. He can make his free throws.

Guys that can play defense, finish at the rim and get to the line then make their free throws are the type of players you want in during the 4th quarter.

I believe AA will get close to 10 minutes a game, many of those ahead of Hayes whose defense is highly questionable.

My post was specifically about backup small forward. (As it referred to an earlier post) I am generally thinking Afflalo will be the backup shooting guard, and hopefully will get 15 minutes a game-limiting Rip to 33 minutes. However, I won't count Mejia out as the player to end up playing backup guard along side Stuckey. Mejia won't give you as much personal scoring, but I believe he could well produce more scoring for the unit thru much better rebounding, much better ball handling, and even better defense than Afflalo. I like both players, and can't wait until camp starts to see more of them playing.

The minutes he will take from Hayes will be at the #3 not the #2.

Have a nice evening.

Its more likely that Mejia will take minutes from Hayes at small forward. Mejia is a bit taller than Afflalo and more capable of guarding small forwards. Plus, he could pretty much sub for Prince on the ball handling department. Our second unit just might be Stuckey, Afflalo, Mejia, Amir, Dyess. Mind you, this could mean Mejia playing the point, Stuckey the shooting guard, and Afflalo the small forward. (But that would make you right so we can't have that can we. lol)

I also forgot to add that Mejia is probably a better rebounder vs. Hayes too. And we can only use so many scorers. You need the glue guys too.

Re: The 5th starter...who should it be?

The correct answer to this poll is:

Quote:
He (Saunders) and Dumars have mapped out a plan to hopefully incorporate veteran sixth man Antonio McDyess into the starting lineup alongside Wallace. The plan includes increased roles for young players like Jason Maxiell and Amir Johnson, as well as for rookies Rodney Stuckey and Arron Afflalo.
Feisty Saunders still fighting back

I don't imagine that you have seen Mejia play more than I have. Certainly you haven't seen AA play anywhere near as much as I have.(I have seen AA play in close to 50 games). I stand by my position.

I like Mejia's game, but right now he is below AA on the official team depth chart and will most likely stay there for the entire year.

Re: The 5th starter...who should it be?

I am thinking Mejia will be the odd man out and will be cut from the team.

Re: The 5th starter...who should it be?

I'd have to say Dupree will be, he really has no true role anymore on the team. he's the 3rd option at sf at best, and could go as low as 6th if things work right.
