The Numbers Game

According to the Pistons web site:

Rodney Stuckey: Will wear jersey #3.

Arron Afflalo: Will wear #9.

Some guys don't have numbers listed. Anyone have any info or ideas on these three players?

Sammy Mejia: He wore #11 at Depaul. That ain't going to happen in the Palace.

Jarvis Hayes: He wore #24 with the Wizards last year. That number, of course, belongs to McDyess.

Cheick Samb: Samb wore #23 in the summer league. I have seen pictures of him wearing #10 and #14. Hunter wears #10, though.

Re: The Numbers Game

Does it really matter? I am more interested in their other numbers - points, assists, rebounds, and, of course, minutes played.

Of course it matters, unless you don't watch the games...

On the Pistons NBA site, the roster lists AA with #8 and Hayes without a number.

I CANNOT be happy about this. That number should be held until it is retired. End of story.

Re: The Numbers Game

I agree. There are many numbers available. At least wait until Ben retires, so we don't piss him off.

The Pistons are not just slapping Ben Wallace squarely in the face by giving that number to Stuckey, they are slapping us fans in the face who loved him and cheered hard for him. Not only do I lose a whole lot of respect for an organization that would do this, I lose a whole lot of enthusiasm for rooting for Stuckey. If he is that kind of clueless person who would take on a recent hero's number, just what kind of character does he has.
