Re: Articles worth mentioning II

Chris McCosky is on crack

Once again, our illustrious beat writer is TOTALLY out of touch with the team he supposedly covers. It's been said over and over that Theo Ratliff was brought in to be the 5th big off of the bench (a situational player).
Now, this Rip Taylor look alike is trying to say: "If Ratliff is who the Pistons think he is -- a healthy, shot-blocking presence -- he's going to play. If that's the case, then Jason Maxiell and Johnson would become situational players in the later rounds of the playoffs."

"Situational players"??? ...WTF?

Heya McCracksky, does your lame mustache somehow obscure your view of the game lately? The Pistons have added something this year that's been severely lacking since the departure of the Fro. - Bigs that actually play with with bawls-out energy! Correct me if I'm wrong but I think maybe we just might need that in the postseason.

...jerk.

^And that, you see, is why I never liked McCrapsky (aside from him constantly lambasting the fans for their fondness for Amir Johnson, which he seems to personally detest).

RealGM Detroit Pistons Front Office

Quote:
"To me, their bench is the most impressive in the league," Spurs' coach Gregg Popovich told The Flint Journal last month. "Those guys take pride in what they do when they step on the court. They're very physical, very energetic."

From the NY Times:

SPORTS PEOPLE: PRO BASKETBALL;
False-Alarm Apology

Published: March 16, 1990
LEAD: Mike Abdenour, trainer for the Detroit Pistons, apologized to authorities in Auburn Hills, Mich., yesterday after pleading no contest in District Court to a misdemeanor charge stemming from a false emergency report. Abdenour conceded having a call placed March 6 to the city's 911 emergency number to report that a Detroit player had collapsed during practice.

Mike Abdenour, trainer for the Detroit Pistons, apologized to authorities in Auburn Hills, Mich., yesterday after pleading no contest in District Court to a misdemeanor charge stemming from a false emergency report. Abdenour conceded having a call placed March 6 to the city's 911 emergency number to report that a Detroit player had collapsed during practice. He said he wanted to test the emergency crews' response time in light of the death of Hank Gathers of Loyola Marymount. (AP)

This is a very old article but I thought it was pretty funny!
