But that means that he needs to get to his sweet spots with the proper match up more often than he is now and that has to be the perceived best offensive opportunity on that possession. Plays can be designed to do this but the defense can counter this thereby preventing it.

Another example is Maxey. He is not the greatest ball handler or passer. If he gets passes in situations where he can't take his shot at the point that he receives the ball this would lead to more turnovers and a reduction in are overall offense efficiency.

I remember watching the Lakers when Cap and Magic played together and Chick Hearn was often complaining that Cap needed to get the ball more. Seems simple enough, but if Magic one of the greatest passers of all time couldn't always get the ball to Cap on Caps sweet spot it seems to me that it is not anywhere near as simple to get the ball to someone on their sweet spot as it is to say give him more shots.

That of course doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to these things, but the team we are playing against will have a big say in the outcome of our attempts.

Correct, sir!!

Kgreg, I think you need to include CB's FT shooting in with his overall effectiveness.
DBA will hang you.
But you're right CB must get that "and one". He has to know they're going to foul him.

Our success will depend on these guys (and Stuckey) come playoff time. Flip can't all of a sudden tighten up the leash on the bench in the post-season, or it will be another disappointing finish to the year.
This is also my take on the situation this year. Stuckey and AA both give some added energy. A key ingredient is the absence of a slasher and a tough center who is active on defense and offense.

FlipM has been benched (rightly so) because he thinks that his help to the team is directly proportional to how many shots he can get off in as many minutes. Talent he has; but, with no active mentor (or an increasing brain perception), his potential contribution will remain hidden and of no use.

There is a last chance for JoeD via the winter trades. Most might say we are in for a tweak. Could be we might be in for the opposite: you fix the roof when the sun is shinning.

Re: The Winning Streak

We gotta new 5 game streak going. When will our next loss occur?
  • @ NJ 12/26
  • Vs Ind 12/28
  • @ Ind 12/29
  • Vs Milw 12/31
  • @ Wash 01/02
  • @ Tor 01/04
  • Vs Bos 01/05
Or will we win them all!!!!!!!!! But that road game against Toronto looks like a loss; 2nd game on the road, facing a game against Bos the next night.

I would say the games @ Ind and the Wiz. Both those teams seem to give us problems at their house.

Re: The Winning Streak

Its tough to win both of those home-home sets. Have one this weekend with the Pacers. Friday here and Saturday over there. I would guess the streak will end this Sat ( at 7 ) if I had to pick a most likely game.

It is about 250 miles from the Palace to Indianapolis.

When we do this trip do we use Roundball One or take a bus?

I would guess that we fly even though it may not be that much faster nor that much more comfortable given that the bus trip is pretty short. A bus may not hold all of the equipment we need for a one day trip?

Good question but I have no idea. Never thought about it.
