Unfortunately, I don't think that Amir's cut out to be a center, and I think Flip is leery of going to a frontcourt of Amir and Maxiell, and Maxiell is playing so well that he is soaking up all the meaninful PF minutes. So I'm not sure how this move will help Amir's case.

He has actually played them together this year and it worked out okay. AJ is not that heavy but he is our tallest player now 6'11 1/2", next to Cheikh, and our best leaper.

We shall see.

The deal gives the Pistons' Herrmann, someone they've coveted, and dumps salary. Mohammed is due about $25 million in a deal that runs through the 2010-11 season. Brezec and Herrmann are in the final year of their deals.
"We get great financial relief, and it is a deal we had to make from that perspective, but we are also getting two guys we like," said Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars. "These are two players that we've talked to Charlotte about in the past."
Doesn't sound like they are going to sit the pine. I think if anything this trade could reduce AJ's time even more. Herrmann is 6'9" and Brezco is over 7 feet. I think Flipper will play these guys ahead of AJ.

ESPN - Bobcats acquire Mohammed from Pistons for Brezec, Herrmann - NBA

I know it has been speculated plenty, but I don't think there is any way Amir is 6'11". He's 6'9" which is part of his problem. He doesn't really have a position. (Aside from C, PF, SF, SG & PG)

I'm content. Nazr may be a solid big, but not enough. We already have Amir who definetely has to play no matter what.
With Herrmann, we have a decent alternative to Hayes and Brezec can contribute if needed. Besides, both have expiring contracts what makes the deal even more attractive. GOOD!!!

This has been discussed before. Arnie Kander measured him during pre-season and said AJ was 6'11 1/2"

Amir Johnson keeps on growing. Arnie Kander, Detroit’s strength and conditioning coach, said the 20-year-old is 6-foot-11 1/2. He was 6-9 in 2005 when the Pistons drafted him.

Re: Pistons Trade Mohammed to Charlotte

No need to find any negatives here. If a player isn't getting the time they deserve, it's the coach's fault. Don't evaluate this trade based on what you think it might influence the coach to do against his will.

Joe D appears to have regretted the Nazr signing and he just erased it. Problem solved.

In the meantime, we have 2 additional tools for Flip's tool belt. If they never play a single second, it was still a good trade for the next 4 years.

I'm in shock that it actually went down.

Those quotes from Charlotte make it seem like they thought they traded for McDyess. It is possible Joe tricked them that badly?
