Seems like they would have just used him off the bench last year in the playoffs if that were the case.

That would have been a great idea. Too bad the coach didn't think of it.

This year, our bench needs help and we need another big. The good thing for us is that Webber won't be as out-classed going against backups, and he won't be as gassed if he only plays 15 mpg.

Also, in last year's playoffs, Webber was 4th on the team in production behind CB, Sheed, and Maxiell. And contrary to the general consensus, we actually outscored our Playoff opponents with Webber on the floor.

I could actually make the case that Webber played better in the playoffs last year than he did in the regular season. His gross numbers don't look as good because his minutes were cut from 29 to 22. But on a per minute basis, he did just as well. His FG% rose from 49% to 52%. He averaged 10 pts, 6+ rebs, 1.5 ast, 1.0 stl, and .6 blocks. If we had that type of production coming off of our bench right now, we'd be a better team.

McCoskey claims that only thing what stands between pistons and webber is roster spot. He speculates that CWebb might play 10mpg. As long as those are Prozac's minutes and gives 5 min additional rest to dice, I'm all for it. Yes, his defence is bad but he can rebound and create much needed offence for slumping bench. This is 911 call but what can you do?

Webber can help Pistons

sounds like the PR is getting ready...

but yeah that's a good point rets. if saunders isn't going to play AJ, would you rather have webber or brezec? i think that's a pretty easy call.

Re: Webber coming back soon, but to what team?

I think that the article that convinced me that he was coming back here was the one where he kept talking about how important family is to him right now and how he wants to be near them.

As far as a roster spot goes, I think Joe is probably trying to use some expiring contracts to make a 2-for-1 or a 3-for-2 trade to clear space. He probably told Webber to sit tight while he deals and if one can't be made, we'll just waive Bresec.

Re: Webber coming back soon, but to what team?

Looks like a done deal.
ESPN - Webber plans to re-sign with Warriors as soon as Tuesday - NBA

It's funny how things came full circle for him. Drafted by the Warriors and then shipped out of town because Don Nelson didn't like him.

Nelson left the next season and then after 9 seasons returned to the Warriors last season.

Now Webber will be reunited with the team and coach that he started out with.

Geez, Webber can barely limp up the court anymore, what are the Warriors going to do with him?

To me, having Webber waiting-in-the-wings was kind of an insurance policy for Joe to cover his big guys. With this news?...I sure hope he has something else up his sleeve before the deadline.

He does and that is to keep developing AJ who if he gets the minutes will by this year's playoffs be able to help us significantly.
