McKoskey defends Tay in his blog

Quote:
Tayshaun Prince has been up and down this year, no doubt. He hasn't played up to his own standards, for sure. He'd be the first to tell you that. But on no level is Prince a terrible player. On no level is he an impediment to the Pistons' winning another title. I don't care what his numbers are. There are very few players in the league, if any, who can contribute in all the varying ways Prince does. Not only does he typically guard the other team's best perimeter scorer nightly, not only has he improved his rebounding totals this season, not only does he create a mismatch on the offensive end most nights (regardless if his shot is falling, defenses still have to react to his presence) but he is also an invaluable tool against presses and traps because of his ability to bring the ball upcourt and initiate the offense. To say he is a terrible player is ignorant -- plain and simple. If he's so terrible, why is just about every team trying to find small forwards who possess a skill set even close to Prince's?

The Detroit Pistons beat reporters clearly refuse to print anything negative or even resembling constructive criticisms against the team. This is just another example of blind trust and homerism.

My guess is, they do not want to damage good relations with pistons organization...

And secondly : sometimes, if mostlly, this forum is so full of negativism, that I read detnews and freep to "balance" things.

I think I made those exact same arguments about Prince a week ago. This guy is stealing my material.

I bet he's reading the forum. I wonder if he's responding to Lee's letter.

Maybe he wouldn't have had to go all nuclear on a fan if he had been doing his job and talking about why Prince is having an off year. Prince is clearly off. He's not playing the way he has in the past. And the beat kids have basically been ignoring it.

Yeah, he isn't a terrible player, but he sure isn't the Prince we've seen before and someone in the press ought to be talking about that.

They seem to be incapable of doing that. Probably afraid that Bill D. will call them not a very good person.

Re: McKoskey defends Tay in his blog

I honestly think he's been doing a fantastic job on defense. His offense comes and goes. I'm blaming that on 2 things: 1) his form is bad- he can get streaky, but the downside is that he routinely goes through shooting slumps, and 2) he takes a lot of physical abuse- he's skinny and is guarding the most aggressive players in the league. I bet that it is hard for him to maintain the energy on offense every night.

He's the ultimate glue between our front and back court players. He can handle the ball or play big. Borderline all-star is good enough for me.

Just wish (AJ) we had someone (AJ) that could take (AJ) about 10 of his (AJ) minutes so he didn't (AJ) have to expend that (AJ) energy for so long each (AJ) game.
