Q: So you want to study computer science in hopes of developing computer games one day?
A: Basically, computer games -- probably get into the movie industry, making digital stuff. Later on in life, I'll probably do that.
Q: Are you a big computer guy?
A: Yeah, pretty much. I've got two at the house and a laptop, so I'm always on a computer. I like the new Macs. I got that mini Mac with the big screen. It's pretty cool.
Q: How many video-game systems do you own?
A: I've got two Xboxes. I checked out the Wii. I had the PlayStations, but I gave them to my cousins.
Q: Favorite system?
A: Xbox is pretty cool. ... If you want to test me, you can play me whenever."

Re: Amir Johnson - Hollywood Computer Geek

hilarious - you say the last time you checked an xbox is not a mac, yet the title of the article says 'piston is a mac guy' and the content states that he owns a mac.

you don't develop video games on video game systems, you develop them on computers, hence my comment, which is valid.

Re: Amir Johnson - Hollywood Computer Geek

That interview reminds me of Spinal Tap when they were asking Nigel Tufnel what he would do if he weren't a musician:

Quote:
Nigel Tufnel: [on what he would do if he couldn't be a rock star] Well, I suppose I could, uh, work in a shop of some kind, or... or do, uh, freelance, uh, selling of some sort of, uh, product. You know...
Marty DiBergi: A salesman?
Nigel Tufnel: A salesman, like maybe in a, uh, haberdasher, or maybe like a, uh, um... a chapeau shop or something. You know, like, "Would you... what size do you wear, sir?" And then you answer me.
Marty DiBergi: Uh... seven and a quarter.
Nigel Tufnel: "I think we have that." See, something like that I could do.
Marty DiBergi: Yeah... you think you'd be happy doing something like-...
Nigel Tufnel: "No; we're all out. Do you wear black?" See, that sort of thing I think I could probably... muster up.
Marty DiBergi: Do you think you'd be happy doing that?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, I don't know - wh-wh-... what're the hours?

Apple - Games

The market for games is clearly bigger on PC's but Mac's now run Windows. So while it is clearly highly beneficial to be able to own a PC if you want to design games it is not in anyway required.

It is correct that games are not designed on Xbox systems.

Re: Amir Johnson - Hollywood Computer Geek

Macs are used to design a lot of graphic elements for movies and video games on any platform.

I have never owned a Mac, for no particular reason other than I started out on Windows but from what I have read the graphics on a Mac is superior to that on a Windows PC, everything else being equal.

Re: Amir Johnson - Hollywood Computer Geek

That used to be the case. Now, I think its about the same processor-wise with the mac being the familiar territory for many professionals.
