Good chance but not impossible.

Therefore it seems to me that the discussion is relevant.

Besides what can we say about the Mean Greenies that ESPN, TNT and ABC haven't already said 10 about million times and that is probably low balling the number.

I agree the discussion is relevant. I was just pointing out that there is no guarantee that we will run into LeBron this year. Do you make a major change to your roster just to stop LeBron if there is only a 50-50 chance you'll meet?

At times I wish we had more consistency and athleticism on the wing. That said I really do like Jarvis. He was hired to be a gun slinger, and he obliges. Sometimes his aim is little off, but when he's just decent we cant be beat. When Jarvis scores in double figures we are 11-3. When he scores about 6-8 pts in the 2nd qtr it really gets the bench going. I really believe that Jarvis can come out hit those few shots to get us going.

There are three ways that we can wind up playing Cleveland in the playoffs this year.

1. We finish ahead of the Mean Greenies and the Magic finish with a better record than the Cavs. The Cavs and us would then meet in the second round.
2. The Cavs finish with a better record than the Magic and be seeded third in the second round so if we both advance to the second round we would play them. Right now the shorthanded Cavs are only 2 games back of the Magic. I think that there is a good chance that they will pass them.
3. The Cavs finish with a worse record than the Magic. The Cavs than become 4th seed. The Cavs win the first round and beat the Mean Greenies in the 2nd round. We then face the Cavs in the ECF.

I think that #2 is the most likely scenario and therefore upon further pondering this difficult question I have come to a temporary and reversible opinion that there is a great chance that we will face the Cavs in the playoffs.

exactly. Forget players like Pietrus, nobody needs them.
Not James is the problem, his supporting cast is. Last year the Pistons had problems with Big Z, Gooden and Gibson. They are the ones to be stopped.

Especially Boobie, the Pistons just refused to respect his game. Offensively Rip and Billups took some weak-A-isht to the boy and came up empty or embarassed. Defensively we treated him like he was Eric Snow. In the end we were Duped by a Boob!!!!!

Re: Lebron James "Stopper"

I'd like to think that the Pistons are a better equipped to handle QUEEN James. ...That is, as long as Flip has the guts to throw guys like Afflalo, Stuckey and Lindsey at him. If he sticks with Tay and Rip exclusively, we're in for more of the same crap.

Lebron scoring all of those points in the 4th quarter in the ECFs last year was mainly due to FLIPS FAILURE TO ADJUST.

My guess is that Joe D did not stockpile those expiring for nothing.
I think that's a pretty hard question. There's room for someone new, especially a swingman who can play at the two and three spots. If it's a good enough player, leftover minutes at SF with Tay on the bench isn't going to be enough, so he's going to have to take some minutes at guard. That puts Affalo back into the five to ten minute a game world with a reasonable number of DNPs. Anybody coming in for that kind of money is going to have to play and that will take minutes from the existing bench.

I'd bundle those guys and grab Miller off the Memphis fire sale. He isn't going to stop LBJ (thought I'd tie in the actual subject of this thread) on defense, but maybe if the Pistons score more than 80 points or so those fourth quarter heroics will turn into a futile rain of threes and LBJ is pretty easy to guard from there.

Disagreed. Last year he had no material for adjustment. Even starters failed, from where do you hope that less capable benchplayer could have been sucessful? Coaching depends on the material at hand too. Maybe you have seen that some teams prior to season promised to run and gun but have largely failed: Memphis and Toronto, cuz they have no personnel for this.
