Looking at the Pistons, we are awful with stopping dribble penetration, this is really the only true weakness in our defense. On the Offensive end, CB has problems with consistent trapping teams in the half court.

Two big areas that needs work before the playoffs.

Joe D has accumulated a lot of expiring contracts, this is the set-up folks. I would be very surprised if Joe D did not make a deal before the trade deadline.

I think the focus will be on getting someone who can slow down Lebron James and play some lock down defense on the guy.

I am looking at the likes of Ron Artest, (errggg), Shane Battier, Mickael Petreus (sp).

Someone who you can sacrifice their offensive game for lock down defense.

It's a whole lot of expiring deals on that bench. Joe has essentially stockpiled these players for a reason.
You're thinking like a GM. And if they got Artest, I think Tay would gladly go to the bench if it meant another title. Not sure Artest would fit in here, though, and I don't think Davidson would want him given that he's not "a nice person." Those other guys would be welcome here though. I hope they do make a deal and not stand pat. Get rid of Flip Murray and Fabio and let them go play somewhere else where they can actually get some minutes.

And Artest has openly declared that he has been underpaid, so for Davidson it sounds like " future luxtax"

Maybe this league should be renamed as "League of Underpaid Millionares"

Re: Lebron James "Stopper"

I think we did have the personnel to make adjustments last year. Maxiel came up big one game and sat out the next...and the next. We went with Dyess' jump shooting over Maxiell's energy. I'm not going to say that Maxiell would have changed the series but we has available as a resource.
I am hoping Afflalo can truly be a boob stopper. I would like someone simply relentless on D to rattle their reserves. Nothing like seeing your 7th or 8th man have some success against another playoff team to fire up the rest of the team.

Looks like Hunter will be taking AA's minutes during the playoffs and probably some of Stuckey's too.

I think that #2 is the most likely scenario and therefore upon further pondering this difficult question I have come to a temporary and reversible opinion that there is a great chance that we will face the Cavs in the playoffs.

Don't know if i'm right bout this but aren't Division Champs are auto seeded? Even if Magic has a worse record than the Cavs, they would still be seeded 3rd as long as they win the Atlantic Division? If this is the case, the Cavs will meet the Celtics in the 2nd round which I hope they play 7 games to decide who will reach the ECF.

Re: Lebron James "Stopper"

How about Lindsey on Lebron? Take away his drive and make him a jump shooter and a post player.

Realistically, we will probably just throw a bunch of players at him and mix in the zone randomly to confuse him.

You are right Dre, Division winners get automatic seeding regardless of record.

Re: Lebron James "Stopper"

that's what i thought too armygirl, although someone on tv mentioned the cavs getting the 3rd seed so i got confused.

i'd gladly take pietrus simply because he'd be a better defensive player than herrmann, but i wouldn't concede his minutes to jarvis - it'd be more like insurance.

and artest? i despise the guy, but if joe brought him in as a rent-for-the-playoffs kind of guy, i could probably set aside my differences and support him for a few months. but there's no way that move gets made.
